To enhance management of growing customer-owned captive power generation such as rooftop solar while mitigating impacts on the grid, and to strengthen digital and operational systems, a team from Kenya Power and KenGen engaged Arizona Public Service (APS) in Phoenix, USA, on a knowledge-sharing visit yesterday. Discussions focused on how utilities are managing rooftop solar and captive generation increase on the grid, managing the technical and commercial impacts, and maintaining system stability as these energy sources grow. The team also explored APS’s use of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems, as well as its participation in the Western USA energy markets trading, showing how real-time energy trading supports better balancing of supply and demand across the grid. APS, one of the utilities in Arizona, operates a system shaped by high peak demand of over 8,500MW and significant roof-top solar generation, making it a relevant reference point for utilities managing similar grid dynamics. Led by our Managing Director & CEO, Dr (Eng.) Joseph Siror, the visit focused on practical lessons to strengthen implementations necessary to minimise operational and commercial impacts, improve customer service, and manage the grid in the shift to a power system with more distributed power generation. #PamojaTwangaa #PoweringKenya ^ZM

Babu genuinely wants to uplift education, there are proper and sustainable ways to do it: ✅Partner with qualified teachers to deliver KCSE lessons, rather than freelancing without a TSC license. ✅Use NG-CDF funds to build or equip online learning centres for his constituency. ✅Collaborate with the Ministry of Education and TSC so his efforts are legitimate and scalable. ✅Empower teachers and students through training, scholarships, and learning resources. Defending an MP for ignoring professional standards doesn’t make him smart, it just lowers the bar for leadership.
