I spoke with Matchroom Boxing about this, today. They echo a similar sentiment. Matchroom’s initial statement was: “Interviews outside of the allotted Fight Week media events are strictly not permitted - unless you are invited by Matchroom Boxing. Media 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹 during Fight Week & will be asked to leave unless they’re a guest staying at the resort. Any media who do not follow this will further risk gaining (press) accreditation to our future events.” Following the volume of media now attending events, this has now given fans a ‘pass’ to get into events, just to meet their favourite boxers. Matchroom aren’t happy with the dress code either, emphasising that it’s not professional. The notion of fans disguising themselves as boxing media, just to get to meet their favourite fighters & get free tickets is no longer an acceptable trend. From their stance, this cannot continue.

Just showering their heroes with praise, putting answers in their mouths with “questions” & diluting the good work put in by those who bring value to the event. Stations with tens or thousands of views are asking good questions and it’s mutually beneficial. This isn’t a candy store free-for-all. Promoters shouldn’t be giving free seats to randoms who don’t provide them with any meaningful and/or professional coverage. Otherwise it’d be a free for all
