The wording of this Pressler story haunts me. SBC leaders knew about Pressler's predation, but their Conservative Resurgence was just too important to worry about a trail of abused young men. You can cherry pick the data whichever way you want. In the end the data won’t change. So, slice the numbers however you want, but the reality doesn’t change. The majority of mass shooters are young white males. They’re responsible for the deadliest attacks because they tend to strike indiscriminately, without specific targets. By contrast, mass shootings involving Black males or males from other races are more often interpersonal—directed at a particular person or group.

So how long do you wait to tell your kid to just deck a kid at church who won’t stop being an absolute pest? This kid’s parents rarely step in and if they do my kid has to be screaming at the top of his lungs for this other kid to stop before they do anything (his mother is the children’s church teacher). My kid doesn’t like going to class anymore and this other kid is the main reason. I’ve had to step in multiple times while this kids mother just stands there and does nothing. I’m over it. My kid is over it. I’m so close to telling him that he’s supposed to tell the kid to stop twice, if he doesn’t, he has my permission to take care of it himself.

@jason_howerton Friends won’t help. Family could have a hard time accepting the child as family. The trauma is hard and its effects can be present years later even after counseling. Bio children could have a really hard time adjusting and the resentment could last years.

We’re thinking about adopting a little girl who needs a home. We have a pretty happy one. Have any of my friends on here adopted? What do I need to know before I start looking into the process?

@drantbradley People are converting to Catholicism because of tradition and liturgy. There’s unity in a liturgical service and it draws you to Jesus instead of the man preaching. People are drawn toward reverence and a sense of entering a holy place.

So that you understand what happened here, Paredes and Fielder renamed ALL their Pastors to "Shepherds" to avoid the prohibition against women pastors in the SBC. They have made a complete mockery of the SBC and our doctrine. Anyone in the SBC of good will should speak out about this. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:28-29 But the idea of equality between men and women is not novel to the New Testament. Job 42:15 tells us, “… and [Job] their father granted [his daughters] an inheritance along with their brothers.” Proverbs 31 describes the ideal wife as one who excels in her chosen profession, which may include homemaking, or even real estate investing and merchant trading. “She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard … her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable … She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes …” These are very inconvenient verses for our “Biblical Patriarchy” counterparts, who seem to want women to be uneducated and home bound without the right to vote. Obviously, many Third Wave Feminist causes do not align with the Bible or Christianity. For example, abortion. And despite what Progressive Feminists may want to believe, marriage between a godly man and woman is the best and safest ideal for women and children. However, the idea that men are supposed to rule over their wives is straight out of the Curse. In Genesis 3:16, God warned Eve, “Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” In other words, wives will long for and need their husbands but sometimes husbands will be domineering, controlling, and even abusive. The Curse describes the consequences of sin and living in a fallen world. It is not prescriptive.
