@funkeekatt as dumb as "killing yourself music" is, i like the alternative reading of music that it suggests. a depressed person is going to be depressed no matter what they listen to, and it changes the meaning of the music. I can see caroline, no as a song about death, personally

this is, imo, a bad read of Pet Sounds. Caroline, No is a melancholy song, but also one of acceptance, Brian wrote the song as being one of embracing his “adult” life as his “child” one passed. It’s an album of unlikely acceptance.
