@kelvmackenzie What signs? Reform are funding this. You say say all signs are pointing to Reform using this to justify the £5m gift, given how heavily they are pushing this angle, despite there being no news from police As it stands, both sides are true. Come the end, only one will be

A Green-led council is planning to force people to cycle to work by scrapping hundreds of free parking spaces as part of a net zero crackdown. Bristol city council, run by a Green-Lib Dem coalition, has drawn up proposals for a levy of up to £1,250 a year on employers who provide free parking for staff commuting by car. Yet another blow to businesses battling higher costs brought on by Labour’s tax rises, inflation and energy prices. #CostOfNetZero

Today, Putin signed the decree that allows elections to occur on September 20th. Meanwhile yesterday, Russia's election chief had a message for voters: don't complain if the internet disappears during elections. Ella Pamfilova says internet shutdowns and communication restrictions may be imposed during September's State Duma elections and that Russians should accept them "for security reasons." Authorities previously claimed the blocking of the internet was aimed at protecting against drone attacks.

𝗣𝗼𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘆’𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗘𝗴𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗻 Sainsbury’s is ditching brown eggs because they claim white-egg hens cut carbon emissions. A poultry farmer who breeds both types calls it total rubbish. White Star hens eat less but live shorter lives, get stressed and die suddenly, and burn out fast. Brown layers like ISA Browns keep going for years. The real story? Less feed means Sainsbury’s can squeeze farmers for more profit. Read the full article: wattsupwiththat.com/2026/06/08/pou…

Great post by @CeeMacBee on the Government’s plan to include fertiliser in CBAM from 1 January 2027. Another angle to this is the Seventh Carbon Budget. Most people assume the Net Zero targets on meat and dairy are years away. They are not. Ministers are yet to set out their plans for meeting the CB7 target. But the CCC wants meat consumption 11% lower than 2019 levels by 2030, and cattle and sheep numbers 8% lower than 2023 levels by the same date. The best way to do that is by increasing prices. The period from 2027 to 2030 is about bending the curve. The period from 2030 to 2035 is about locking it in. If demand has not fallen by then, and if livestock numbers have not started to contract, the 2040 target becomes much harder to hit without more direct intervention (i.e. formal bans and meat taxes). By applying CBAM to fertiliser imports, Ministers will increase costs for grass, silage, feed and production. And, yes, it means higher meat and dairy prices.

𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗼 𝗛𝗶𝘁 £𝟰𝟬𝗯𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟬 So much for cheap green energy. The cost of renewables is set to hit £40 billion a year by 2030. Grid upgrades and balancing will drive most of the increase as wind and solar expand. Official forecasts from the OBR and NESO show the numbers. Households face higher bills and taxes to cover it. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲, 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 The Met Office keeps quiet about the 1947 heatwave that was just as hot as this week. England hit 94F on June 3rd at Waddington on a rural grass field. Multiple other sites reached 93F. Those were clean rural readings with none of today's urban heat. The 1947 event matches or beats the current one. Yet they act like this heat is new and proves climate change. Read the full article: wattsupwiththat.com/2026/05/28/the…

Google has a pirate enemy. He's one guy. His name is Raymond Hill. He built uBlock Origin. The world's best ad blocker. 63K stars. GPL-3.0. He literally refuses every dollar you try to send him. Then Google did the unthinkable. July 24, 2025. Manifest V2 disabled everywhere. The full uBlock Origin stopped working on Chrome. The world's biggest ad company nuked the world's biggest ad blocker on its own browser. They called it "security." Coincidence. Here's the wildest part: Raymond didn't fold. Latest release: March 11, 2026. Still alive on Firefox. Still alive on Edge. Still alive on Brave. Still GPL-3.0. Still refusing every dollar. One developer vs. the trillion-dollar ad empire. But DO NOT install it. We should all keep Google richer. 100% Open Source. (Link in the comments)

Every passing day I get more and more annoyed that they chose a closed-list system for the Senedd election. A total power grab by the parties from the electorate. I want my vote to represent a specific approval of a person or people, not contentment with anyone on a list. The next Welsh Government should make it an immediate priority to replace the system with Single Transferable Vote for 2030. Power to the people!

It's not clear the rules around calling another MP a "liar" are fit for the social media age. For many the viral clip of martyrdom is worth taking the minor punishment of being barred for the rest of the day.
