It’s literally illegal to put up financial barriers to vote — that’s a poll tax, and it’s prohibited by the 24th Amendment of the Constitution. I know the Constitution doesn’t mean much to conservatives these days, but it’s still the law. When obtaining the proper ID is free and widely accessible to US citizens, then we can talk about voter ID laws.

The SAVE Act denies the right to vote for millions of Americans by requiring specific forms of ID that millions of U.S. citizens do not have, and requiring them to effectively pay a poll tax, which is illegal, in order to get those documents to vote. The SAVE Act is voter suppression. Republicans know that Trump has made them deeply unpopular, so they know they need to cheat to win.

The same hateful evil video you may have seen that depicted @BarackObama and @MichelleObama as monkeys. He amplified a clip to his followers, and right wing media quickly spread the full version. This was not an accident. It was deliberate. While the President and his staff want me to clutch my pearls over an AI video and pretend my feelings are the story, I will not be their distraction. The story is this: Donald Trump has longstanding ties that continue to surface in records connected to Jeffrey Epstein. He is referenced in the Epstein files more than 38,000 times and did everything in his power to keep them from being released for that very reason. Attacking my appearance is very low on the list of the worst things Donald Trump has done to victimize or traumatize women, and his intention in posting this video is to distract from the fact that, with every drop of new Epstein-related information, we find more and more examples of him being exactly the kind of animal he depicted me as: a pig. If you think degrading women and dehumanizing your opponents will protect you, you are wrong. The country sees the distraction for what it is. And we are not looking away.

As we were driving in, we passed a small group of maybe 30 people holding large “F ICE” signs, spelled out. Many of the houses in the neighborhood also had signs saying “F ICE” and similar messages. When we were leaving to drive back to the hotel, we passed the group again. At that point, the resistance group stepped out in front of our car and would not let us drive. One woman appeared to be looking at our license plate and doing something on her phone. She was standing directly in front of the car, blocking us — I cannot imagine being a sane person and living in this city. We were with my brother-in-law’s family, and they said that restaurants and other places are empty because of this, the resistance is out doing their thing, and the normal people are just staying home and not going out.’
