@lavie154 I guess if the companies don't wana play at all they shouldn't. But a module is literally the best case for them financially. If they can't make that work out then a standalone station is worse. Like extra requirements whatever you were going to go utterly bankrupt.

My preference would be for industry to focus on responding to RFIs, as what matters is achieving the correct, safe, and affordable outcome so that America and our international partners avoid giving up a presence in low Earth orbit. To be extremely clear, the ISS has an end date per the national space policy, which will require a transition to one or, ideally, more commercial space stations. NASA’s recent history of undertaking big endeavors with industry and arriving on time and on budget is not perfect, as highlighted in most OIG reports. So it should be understandable that we want to get this right. We have put out RFIs to industry for commercial space stations and are eager to review the feedback. From there, we can move very quickly. In the interim, we have expanded the PAM program, permitted further monetization of those astronaut seats, and will prioritize the highest-potential commercial research on the station. As someone who has personally spent hundreds of millions on commercial spaceflight and has a reasonably informed sense of the domestic and international market, I want nothing more than for there to be demand that supports lots of people living and working in space someday.

yeah, sometimes responding to the RFI is best, but sometimes the RFI is just stupid and a compromise nobody wanted. the only way this pencils out for private companies is if NASA foots nearly the entire bill and then just lets them keep it nice use of national infrastructure 👍

I distance myself because the vast majority of people who are under that label are batshit insane and fight anyone who disagrees with the 'idea' which I've seen constantly changing depending on what is convenient for them , many cannot even think a single thought without it being spelled out for them like a toddler. There is an extremely small number of people who don't fall into this. I like to learn from people, so I will (at least attempt to) surround myself with the people I can actually learn from and distance myself from those whom I cannot. You cannot really escape the "spacex fans" while having any interest in spaceflight whatsoever, so it's the only thing that can be done

@jsuarez @__tinygrad__ @jaywyawhare eager mode is not worth much. i use it to run models on my drone. you just precompile and export the pickle and directly run that. and even if you don't export waiting 2 iterations for JIT warmup is not an issue IMO.

Update on C-ML: Now we are close to being done with the herculean task of making C-ML match feature parity with tinygrad. We do support distributed training along with support for different accelerator backends like CUDA, ROCm, Vulkan, and others. There are some bugs, and I am actively working on fixes.
