For the first time ever, solar supplied the #TexasGrid with more energy than coal. This is the future, y'all! Once you build solar, it's pretty much free. It's clean for our air and water. It's more affordable than fossil fuels. It's here to stay. houstonchronicle.com/business/energ…

In Texas, we still have a dozen coal plants. As @nytopinion points out, if Trump's EPA continues to dismantle environmental rules meant to protect kids and families, our state will see huge increases in pollution.

👀 WATCH: @BenJealous tells @CBSEveningNews why Trump’s efforts to slash pollution protections and prop up coal plants will mean more threats to Americans’ health and less reliable, affordable energy
CBS Evening News with Tony Dokoupil@CBSEveningNews

The EPA has slashed and reconsidered dozens of rules designed to fight pollution since President Trump took office, leaving many in Houston concerned about their air quality. CBS News’ @DavidSchechter visits the city that was named one of the most polluted in the U.S.

Politicians ask: What will it take for companies to build more natural gas power plants for the strained Texas power grid? As it turns out, for a growing number of developers, even the Texas government handing out taxpayer-backed loans is not sufficient. houstonchronicle.com/business/energ…

And that $2 billion loss hurts TX students around the state - especially in Houston, DFW, and Austin districts - due to the way the state distributes school funding. Let's rethink tax breaks for wealthy + polluting corporations when it impacts our kids and the future of TX.
Dylan Baddour@DylanBaddour

Three low-income school districts in Texas have granted more than $2 billion in tax relief to new liquefied natural gas terminals on the Gulf Coast insideclimatenews.org/news/03122024/…

Did you know that about 42% of Texas is currently facing drought? Recent drought data by #TWDB shows that October is on track to be the driest month in the past 30 years, with the state averaging only 2.5 inches of rainfall. #ImagineADayWithoutWater - What would we lose? 🧵

Monitoring shows that haze in Texas is mostly caused by coal plants. That's one reason why these should have to install cost-effective pollution control measures. But @tceq just doesn't wanna make friendly polluters do anything, so @EPAregion6 must step in sierraclub.org/press-releases…

11 Different Pipelines at the #LaPorte #PipelineFire and officials don’t know whose pipeline is on fire or what is burning. That’s leaves first responders in a difficult place with no clear options on how to mitigate the harm. Residents are also forced to leave their homes.

Scientific consensus shows new US LNG exports can't be part of our energy future if we are to avert the worst of the climate crisis. Once @energy updates its outdated studies used to review gas export applications this reality should be clear: sierraclub.org/articles/2024/…

16 electric cooperatives are *big* winners today of $7.3 billion from the federal New ERA program to pursue solar, wind, storage, and other low emissions tech. These coops serve more than 1/5th of rural America and are investing in over $29 billion in clean tech. Remarkable.
