@clim8resistance @FUDdaily If the average moves then the extreme temperatures also move. I'm not particularly enthusiastic about the UK net zero strategy but I still very much believe the planet is warming due to co2 emissions

@AscendedYield Unless you think you can dramatically deflate care costs with automation within two or three decades. Which is extremely plausible

A good article explaining the short term positive effects of mass immigration. If you have stagnant growth and a rising set of public spending demands, one of the easiest levers to pull, other than borrowing, is to let in a lot of working age people, if you are only concerned about the economic health of the country for the next financial year or parliamentary term, it makes sense, you mechanically increase income tax, national insurance contributions and VAT receipts while the people who are coming to pay this will not be fiscal burdens within the time period. The issue is, for anyone with a life expectancy above 5, is that the cohort of migrants we brought over in the time period to increase tax receipts will then become a fiscal burden as they age, and you are back to square one. What you end up getting is a fiscal illusion since we are not looking at the future fiscal costs as a result of this, and living standards do not grow, hence why people are mad.
The Telegraph@Telegraph

The Boriswave ushered in the fastest population growth in England and Wales in 75 years. However, this year the pendulum will decisively swing the other way. Net migration may enter negative territory for the first time in more than three decades. But it raises big questions about whether Britain’s economy will cope ⬇️ telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…

@DarthNoll @eccorca @AeroBigMike While the top sections of the ships are usually destroyed after a tip over, the mid & aft-sections usually survive in a pretty big piece; with engines intact might I add. So yes, you absolutely can recover hardware for inspection from these; these photos are from Flight 6.

@capajj They also - stop people from thinking hard and understanding - force everything toward the mean - will be used to harden surveillance and subliminal control - ruin people’s soul by being sycophantic and/or people treat them badly and that bleeds into how they treat other humans

@alexwickham Shall we just do away with government and let the bond markets run the country? Let’s cut out the middleman and let them do it. We’re not allowed to have the policies we vote for so just fuck it off.

Andy Burnham’s decision to keep the current fiscal rules, as told to Bloomberg this week, has contributed to gilts having their best weekly gain since 2023 Easing political concerns plus optimism on Iran, slower than forecast inflation numbers and soft jobs and retail data all gave bonds a lift bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@CllrAlexCatt same comrade, same. We are a political party, we stand in elections!! all the arguments being deployed equally applied to Runcorn and Helsby, and Reform won that, and lo and behold it didn't harm us one bit

The suggestion of Greens standing aside for this by-election is ridiculous to me. W really shouldn’t be rewarding or condoning this pathetic show of political manoeuvring that is going on - I’m absolutely sick of it. It’s all such a joke.

Two things contributed to the collapse of the Yugoslav economy. One was that Tito borrowed ungodly amounts of money from the IMF and Western banks, because he was convinced Capitalism would end within his lifetime, and therefore the loans would never have to be paid back.
