@TheSteinLine Proud to say I was part of this series with the Lakers (PR staff), even in a losing effort. Incredible series. Sedale Threatt was incredible for the Lakers in the series. As I recall, sir Charles got some phantom foul calls in OT in the deciding Game 5 !!

Sorry to share that Jim Lane has passed away at 85. Helped lay foundation for Altoona Mirror sports coverage, starting back in 1960s. Fixture on high school scene, especially Altoona, Bishop Guilfoyle, all the Blair County schools and then the Altoona Curve. Consummate good guy.

@JeffZillgitt The very definition of a pro. Great at his job and always kind to everyone he came into contact with. Glad the NBA was always his beat. Hope to see more of you, Jeff, in whatever you do next!

After 30 years at USA TODAY, it's -30- for me. I have taken a buyout. It's been the thrill and dream of a lifetime. Being a newspaper person was all I ever wanted out of work. There's not enough room to acknowledge everyone who deserves it but my gratitude runs wide and deep.

Just terrible news. A true legend, amazing humor and wit and an incredible writer. Our relationship began with “The Punch” and carried on from there (especially when he wanted to make fun of Notre Dame). A phone call or meeting was never boring. RIP to an all-time great.

Been really cool to see how the @HoustonRockets have treated @Jonathan_Feigen as he enters his retirement. Great reminder of how respectful both are of each other and how relationships drive everything. Truly how it should be.
Houston Rockets@HoustonRockets

Thank you @Jonathan_Feigen for your incredible coverage of Rockets basketball over the years. Your dedication, insight, and storytelling have been a gift to fans and the game. Wishing you all the best in retirement. 🚀

Congrats on an amazing run @Jonathan_Feigen. Have always appreciated your professionalism but most importantly our friendship. Even when we disagreed it was never an argument. You will be missed, my man. Keep in touch!

Well, I guess this is happening. Today is my last day at @HoustonChron. I'm hanging them up. Way too many people to thank to fit here or in today's column. So grateful for all these years covering the Rockets, for my mentors, peers and especially readers. houstonchronicle.com/sports/rockets…

I've had it on my twitter bio for years and people barely noticed. But now everyone knows that Altoona, PA is the center of the universe. Happy to share the many landmarks if you want to visit my hometown.

When I first started in this business, no one treated me better and acted more like we were life long friends than Bill. He always made you feel special and 30 years later, he still was the same guy every time I saw him. Sad day for everyone who had the pleasure to know him
