The hullabaloo started when an amateur astronomer from Turkey reported a small, previously unidentified near-Earth object from 2018 data. The object wasn’t listed in sat_id, nor did it orbit Earth—a feature that would normally be a sign of an artificial object, according to Veres. As a result, it appeared to be an asteroid. “I was ecstatic and submitted the identification,” the amateur astronomer tells Astronomy’s Mark Zastrow. The object’s orbit around the sun brought it less than 150,000 miles from Earth, which is closer than the moon—making it an object worth keeping an eye on. The designation 2018 CN41, announced in MPEC 2025-A38 on Jan 2, 2025, UT, is being deleted,” reads the retraction notice. “The next day it was pointed out the orbit matches an artificial object 2018-017A, Falcon Heavy Upper stage with the Tesla roadster.” The object, launched in 2018 on a SpaceX rocket’s upper stage, is one of many human-made objects in deep space that could potentially be mistaken for natural celestial bodies. At the time of writing, the car is around 84 million miles from Earth, but it is currently moving away from Mars and the Sun and back toward Earth, and it’s doing so at a speed of around 35,000+ mph. So look up and wave at humanity’s fast car in history… But know this: the neighbors will be a bit perplexed by Starman a few million years from now.

Omg that’s so sad. Norman got attacked and it took him a bit to shake it off. Just kept using treats. Short walks. Eventually was back to normal. Off leash dog came from nowhere. Grabbed him by the neck. It was snowy and I had Wilson too. I slid down an icy hill trying to separate the dogs.

Do we have any dog psychologists in the house? Over the last few weeks, my Rottweiler mix refuses to cross a door threshold (front or back) to go on walks. He’s suddenly terrified of his leash, and we can’t figure out why. The few times we got him to come along, he’s perfectly normal once outside the house. No injuries, recent scares, or other specific events we can point to. Tonight, I grabbed some cheese (his favorite treat used on walks), and now he’s hiding in his kennel. We have been trying positive reinforcement around his leash, using it in the house, etc. He just freezes up. Any tips or tricks to get this good boy back on the trail?
