Young Bolt Driver Brutally Beaten by Gang of Over 10 Men in Pattaya Road Rage Attack
Pattaya, May 24th, 2026 – A young Bolt ride-hailing driver was left severely injured after being savagely assaulted by a large group of men in the early hours of Sunday morning in Pattaya
At approximately 3:19 a.m. on May 24th, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Center received a report of the incident near the entrance to Soi Phonpraphanimit 5 on Phonpraphanimit Road. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and found 18-year-old Mr. Krisanaphon Chanuan Klang, a driver from Ubon Ratchathani province, lying injured in the middle of the road.
The victim had suffered serious injuries, including a heavily swollen and bruised face, a split eyebrow, and a swollen head, with blood covering his face. Rescue workers provided initial first aid before transporting him urgently to Pattaya Hospital.
According to the victim’s account, he was driving to pick up a passenger when a sedan began honking at him. He paid no attention until he said he accidentally touched his horn while signaling a turn. The other driver apparently took this as a provocation, cut in front of him, and forced him to stop. A group of more than ten men then emerged and immediately began punching and kicking him without mercy until he nearly lost consciousness.
The victim further stated that a pickup truck arrived during the assault, with additional men joining in the beating before the entire group fled the scene.
A local resident who witnessed the attack told reporters he did not dare intervene because the assailants were numerous and showed no fear of the law. He waited until they had left before contacting rescue services.
CCTV footage obtained by The Pattaya News reporters and shared earlier on our social media platforms clearly captures the incident, showing the sedan cutting off the victim’s vehicle and the group assault on the road.
The victim has filed a complaint at Nong Prue Police Station, requesting a swift investigation and arrest of those responsible. The brazen nature of the attack in a busy tourist area has sparked widespread criticism from locals, who view it as yet another example of unchecked violence and disregard for the law in Pattaya.
@Thenationth Seems like the Pattaya firefighters (and others presumably) did a very good job to get it put out so quickly, as it was a tall building. Well done🙂
@Bangkokboy17 Loved that place...some really interesting characters were regulars back in the day. With Pink Panther close by, what was there not to like.

The Old Other Office, Bangkok’s hidden gem in Patpong Soi 2 Silom: no beer girls, just cold brews, vintage vibes, pool, darts, and pure nonsense. Cozy, homey, legendary. Open daily 6 PM–2 AM.

The bar originally opened back in 1969, capitalizing on the influx of American GIs who came to Bangkok for R&R (Rest and Recreation) during the Vietnam War era. It found its home in a space that used to be part of the lobby of the Pavilion Place Hotel (situated on the upper floors).
The name The Other Office was a cheeky, built-in alibi for patrons telling their spouses or colleagues where they were spending their evening.
In a neighborhood synonymous with the sex industry, The Old Other Office never had go-go dancers, neon stages, or aggressive touts.
You cannot tell the story of the Old Other Office without mentioning Pratoomporn Somritsuk, affectionately known as Khun Thum.
Thum took over management of the bar around 1985. Even when she arrived, she noted that the bar already felt historic. For over 35 years, she's the steady anchor behind the bar every single night, serving cold drinks, chatting with regulars, and maintaining a genuinely warm, homey sanctuary that shut out the chaos of the street outside.

This morning I had the honor of being invited again by @foundationthai to speak at the Expatriate Orientation for members of the diplomatic corp, business leaders, and other people new to Thailand. My session was called “Discovering the Four Regions of Thailand by Rail”. The words on the last slide of the presentation nicely summed it up:
“Travelling by train in Thailand is about more than just getting from point A to point B. It's about watching the changing landscapes, tasting regional specialties, and feeling connected to the people and places that make up this beautiful country.
“Whether you're heading north to the misty mountains of Chiang Mai or south to the tropical warmth of Hat Yai, the views from the train window are a reminder of Thailand's incredible diversity, in geography, culture, and spirit.”
Judging by the feedback at the end, I think I got quite a few converts to rail travel in Thailand.

🍜 006/100 Thai Street Food Flashcards
Simple bowl today but this one always works. This is Egg Noodles in Soup (Ba Mee Nam, บะหมี่น้ำ), a classic you’ll find everywhere from street carts to small noodle shops.
The base is thin egg noodles in a clear pork broth, usually light but flavorful. This bowl comes with minced pork, fish balls, a couple of wontons, and some greens. There’s also sliced daikon radish adding a bit of sweetness to the soup. Compared to the dry version (Ba Mee Haeng), this one is more about the broth and feels lighter overall.
It’s usually blanched and assembled quickly, then topped and served right away. You can adjust it with chili flakes, vinegar, or fish sauce depending on your taste.

Thailand’s tourism minister says the government may review the 60-day visa exemption for each country, while promoting sustainable tourism, screening arrivals, and focusing more on attracting “high-quality tourists.”
What do you think defines a “high-quality tourist”?

This guy needs to get fired next. I can't wait for his trial! Straight to the HAGUE.
@Thenationth There has been no information or approval from Immigration or the Government that this Visa scheme is allowed..will be interesting to see if it gets the go-ahead...
After at least ten viral incidents, brawls, and crimes involving transgender women and foreign tourists in and around Walking Street and Pattaya Beach recently, Pattaya police rounded up dozens of them this morning to review their criminal record history, record their personal information for easier tracking for safety and security reasons, and warn against any future crimes involving foreign tourists.

@KhaosodEnglish Most pattaya bar security guys have no finesse, no communication skills except smash and kick. Fines for incidents like this are 500 baht and a wai. Cowardly behaviour.
4 bar guards. 1 tourist. A bill dispute that somehow required a group beating. World-class nightlife, local-level conflict management.. Not exactly the image tourism officials were hoping to go viral. #Pattaya
