Systems that “help” are often, systems that encourage. I’m not sure how safe you feel, with the fent lean everywhere

@thatAIEngineer @fordnation I’m from Toronto which majority of safe consumption sites are/were. I am not uninformed as I work around these people and have put myself through school to then work for organizations helping substance users/unhoused individuals. When ran properly it helps users be safer.

You generalizing people who already have people looking down on them does not help nor does it do anything

I’m from a full rehabilitation perspective, I’m encouraging zero drug use, zero joblessness, zero degeneracy, and getting them back to functioning citizens. There is nothing about that approach that supports any of my concerns.

@thatAIEngineer @fordnation Do you not realize that it’s not encouraging people to use it’s about people’s safety. People come to use these services to do their substances and to be safe. People think it’s about encouraging substance users to use but from clients perspectives it really is not.

@thatAIEngineer @fordnation Did you work in OPS? Did you help with overdoses? As someone who did, yes they were supervised and had the correct supplies to prevent overdose when they did happen. Call me stupid all you want but when it comes to people’s lives..safe consumption sites are very important.

I’m coming to the conclusion that the biggest challenge for Enterprise AI, and AI in general , as of now, is that it’s still impossible to make sure that everyone gets the same answer to the same question, every time. Which is a great response to the doomers. AI doesn’t know the consequences of its output. Judgement and the ability to challenge AI output is becoming increasingly necessary, and valuable. Which makes domain knowledge more valuable by the second. Am I wrong ?

@thatAIEngineer @fordnation Weird take. There were a lot of clients using these OPS which have prevented a huge amount of people overdosing. It’s crazy that people will complain about this but it truly did help people and prevent people from DYING. Do you think jail is a good place for them? Why?

@kirahutton @fordnation No. Safe consumption sites were not supervised, they were borderline destroyed and completely vandalized. Drugs were given out to the homeless, with easy access. Either you’re stupid, or too far removed. It didn’t help anything, it only exacerbated the problem. Src: London.

@armyWVgirl @LeadingReport Covid was one thing.. I’m that group that had no prom, graduation, etc. I had to take a gap year after HS - then did a 3 year college program. I now run my own business, have a ton of skills, and good work ethic. The problem is all the funds locked within the boomers.

This isn’t funny at all. Heartbreaking, actually. I know some of this generation. No High School experience. No proms. No graduations. No college experience other than online distance classes through Covid. Some of this generation is Fd up. The pandemic really messed with these kids. I have faith that they’ll be okay. But this post? Yeah, not good. Not good at all.
