@mustafa__jones @boomers_ass Current 777F production line ends next year. It's much more beneficial to modify an aircraft to be a tanker from the start, rather than attempt to retrofit one, let alone an entire fleet.

Boeing has definitely damaged their own reputation.
Between the KC-46 problems, the 737 MAX disasters, and the massive certification delays on the 777X program, they’ve earned a lot of the skepticism.
But here’s the hard truth: Who else is going to build us a large strategic tanker?
The Airbus MRTT isn’t big enough, the KC-390 is way too small, and the blended wing body is 20+ years away.
There are no other realistic options.

@thatbrickwall_ @TheIntelFrog Oh no. I saw the Mercy was dry docked and unavailable as well. Hard to believe both would completely out of service at the same time but I think that's where we're at when it comes to shop maintenance these days

The B-52 has ejection seats, but I don’t know how modernized they are. Four crew seats eject upward, while two crew eject downward.
I’m hoping, but it doesn’t look good so far.

@BandogAwacs @thestinkeye They're dedicated flight and ground crew, but they still instruct and support the rag. I think it's just like the rhino demos and 35C, but it's definitely not like any of the AF teams where it's a dedicated team that doesn't do anything else.

@thestinkeye I wonder if demo team is like the Osprey, it's not really a dedicated team, just a set demonstration that you can be qualified on to show off the aircraft.

We have tons of Navy Reserve F-18's that don't cost $150 million loaded with ELINT gear.
We've even stopped making Growlers.
And now this calls into question their training for a demo team that flies formation.
