@TrisOsborneMP What a weird take. Hate to say it but you/Lab is the govt of the day, not the oppo parties. What they say is irrelevant in the scheme of day to day macro management. There’s only so much blaming you can do. It’ll be “14 years of Tory neglect” next…

The February inflation period does not cover the Kemi / Nigel offensive war-of-choice in Middle East. We’ve already seen rising costs of oil / gas as a result of our dependence on fossil fuel.
Good Morning Britain@GMB

BREAKING: The Office for National Statistics has said inflation in the UK remained unchanged at 3% in February, but that doesn't cover the period since the conflict in Iran began - which has already seen rising costs at the fuel pumps.

@bernardjenkin had the opportunity to read the recent war fighting transition paper. I completely agree with the central aspects of it, in particular the transformation of society that’s needed. I’m concerned at the total lack of urgency displayed by the PM at the Selco however.

@FurkanGozukara The UK needs to figure out then what the ‘offer’ to non res taxpayers then. If it’s to solely contribute to the national black holes that are the welfare state and the NHS then I suspect many will renounce UK nationality.

The UK is considering an American style global tax regime. If you move to zero tax havens like Dubai, you will still be forced to pay British income tax for the privilege of holding a UK passport and getting embassy protection. The tax loopholes might finally close.

@EdwardTHardy We should all accept that even without austerity the current sorry state of the British nave would be no different. All the cash would have found its way into the sacred black holes of the welfare state and the NHS.

@SukhSidhuDXB That’s an interesting and very valid perspective. Sadly, large parts of the UK population have become extremely insular and short sighted. The idea of creating an environment attractive to UAE capital and families is well down the list of priorities.

The UK had a massive opportunity to capitalise on the Iran conflict and launch attractive initiatives and policies to entice expats and businesses back home Instead it threatened us with financial penalties, shamed us for having left, and is running a relentless anti Dubai and anti expat propaganda campaign

@ukinuae @EdwardHobartUK Bearing in mind an Emirati in authority would never appear on camera in their official capacity wearing a knackered old polo, I wonder if the FCDO can provide the British ambassador with some sartorial advice, or perhaps a suit if he’s lost his somehow.

People who left Britain for Dubai because the UK is apparently a ‘police state’ have now been ordered by the actual police state they moved to not to film the war zone they inhabit. These same people haven’t paid the tax that will fund their repatriation. Empathy level: Tiny.

@OWS1892 @SuellaBraverman I think we can all agree that even if there had been no ‘austerity’, the Navy would still be in the state it is today. Everything is funnelled into the national black holes - the NHS and welfare state - there’s nothing left for defence.

@SuellaBraverman But look at those status days: many ships were out of action whilst the Conservatives were in charge. This is simply a total and utter failure of our entire political class. Wasteful spending on the national black holes (NHS, welfare) and comparatively nothing for defence.

@NickTorfaen Glad to see that despite the debacle unfolding in the Middle East @UKLabour is focussed resolutely on performative class warfare. If the HoC reflects the best of our political “talent” and sensible heads, god help us. Hereditary peers offer apolitical balance and common sense.

Yesterday the final stages of the Bill to remove hereditary peers concluded. Parliament should be a place where talents are recognised. It should never be a place where titles handed out centuries ago hold power over the people. I’m proud to have delivered this manifesto pledge.

@KimDotcom I can help you here. This is from last Saturday I believe following the deplaning of passengers due to the proximal drone strike at the airport. Evacuated to this underground location for safety, and these folks are now returning to their boarding gates. I was there…I know.

This from @Geoffrey_Cox was titanic - a truly beautiful speech. He outshone those sat opposite. They could only watch. And nervously laugh. This should be seen by every new MP to understand what they do, & every new barrister to understand what we do.
