We are encouraged by the changes to the OpenAI board. We believe this is a first essential step on a path to more stable, well-informed, and effective governance. Sam, Greg, and I have talked and agreed they have a key role to play along with the OAI leadership team in ensuring OAI continues to thrive and build on its mission. We look forward to building on our strong partnership and delivering the value of this next generation of AI to our customers and partners.

i love openai, and everything i’ve done over the past few days has been in service of keeping this team and its mission together. when i decided to join msft on sun evening, it was clear that was the best path for me and the team. with the new board and w satya’s support, i’m looking forward to returning to openai, and building on our strong partnership with msft.

I am deeply pleased by this result, after ~72 very intense hours of work. Coming into OpenAI, I wasn’t sure what the right path would be. This was the pathway that maximized safety alongside doing right by all stakeholders involved. I’m glad to have been a part of the solution.

We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO with a new initial board of Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo. We are collaborating to figure out the details. Thank you so much for your patience through this.

Do you want to make decisions like Jeff Bezos? Here's his simple framework: Type 1 Decisions ("One-way doors") - Irreversible - Make them slowly Type 2 Decisions ("Two-way doors") - Reversible - Make them quickly Most decisions are Type 2. Know the difference. Get going.

1000 followers! Something curious happened in January this year. People began liking and commenting on my tweets! I’m always pleasantly surprised when people take the time to comment and engage with what I post here. Since then I've reached 1000 followers. It’s been fun so far. I’ve learnt a bunch and shared perspectives with many interesting people. I thank you all.

Hope everyone is starting a great week! Over the next few days, I'll be tweeting out some lessons I learned from my new client. They are a scrappy and ambitious startup. That energy was unreal to be a part of. "Set one goal, and execute it relentlessly."

3 things I learned this week from being onsite with a new client: - face time is important - in-office works but only if no barrier (Execs + Employee side-by-side) - scrappy startups are fun I think I will visit these guys once a quarter. The energy was unreal.

I started my career taking companies from 100 to 110. Then I pivoted to taking companies from 3 to 30. Now I am working on 0 to 1. What I learned can be summarized: - Listen to your customers - Show value instead of selling - Work smarter and harder - Don't burn out

Know when to leverage capital to your advantage. Historically you could get a 4yr $1m loan at 2%. This means your expenses are $80k over 4 years but presumably you can earn a higher return. That is leverage. Now it's more difficult at higher rates.

Listening is perhaps the most important skill in any role. Listening can help you understand others. Have empathy. And learn about their issues. You can hear the pain points and formulate a solution that is tailored, rather than giving templated answers.

Cash is king. 3 ways to manage it: Know your inflows and outflows. If outflows > inflows, you are burning cash. Burn is okay as long as it's controlled. E.g. if you have $1M and your burn is $50k/m, you have 20 months of runway. That's a lot of time to step up and evolve.
