@miangoar Just got my PhD and looking for jobs - lots of experience in hands-on protein work (design, testing, biophysics, etc) and comfortable with CS and AI in theory - any suggestions for what to Get Good at to be more competitive for these roles?

Just got my PhD in BME @ Duke, worked on biotech applications of #condensates. Did a ton of “old school” hands on protein eng: biophys, purification, manual structure design. I wanna get into #proteindesign and I’m familiar with protein AI and CS. What types of jobs do I look at?

Our mechanistic hypothesis is that in E. coli, mRNA with a PRS is transcribed already loaded with ribosomes; Pum2-ELP sequesters both mRNA and ribosomes into a condensate, which we've shown is highly liquid. This acts as a "reaction crucible" to amplify translation! (9/🧵)

My undergrad work resurfacing in an article on protein engineering approaches! We combined #synbio methods from the Isaacs lab with bioelectrical expertise in the @NS_Malvankar lab to design conductive nanowires produced in E. coli nature.com/articles/s4146…
