The views of the “Very Online Right” are far closer to those of the general public than the views of the “Very Westminster Right”.

British democracy. Tower Hamlets, 2026.

@darrengrimes Hi Darren, explained in the piece. It was an open, ticketed event with food served, so 'roped off' as per any catered event. The Open Iftar was mixed, save for the brief prayer session. Anyone or any faith and none could buy a ticket tickettailor.com/events/ramadan…

It's interesting that Muslims in the UK are often told we "don't integrate", however many don't know that Jewish communities have their own ambulance and police services. I can imagine the uproar if Muslims had such services. I've no problem with it, only the double standard.

I completely understand the frustration of British cities no longer looking “English” but can I ask why English businesses have stopped trading in these same places they complain about. I hardly see independent English/white owned fruit and vege, corner shops, butchers, restaurants etc WHY?? There are plenty of empty buildings up and down the high street- so why can’t you English pull your finger out? Can’t be bothered? Poor work ethic? If there is an empty building and no one is taking out a lease or buying it who’s English, what’s wrong with Asian, Middle Eastern businesses setting up shop It just sounds like jealousy at times. Nothing is stopping you from opening a business on a high street of your choice.

What utter rubbish. As one of 5 girls - all Uni graduates - all business women- the daughters of a woman who came to this country without any English and produced Drs , lawyers , accountants , military officers , teachers and Britain’s first Muslim cabinet minister! Because Muslim women have achieved phenomenal things for hundreds of years. Do you really think we Muslim women have kicked the glass ceiling for decades to gain equality to listen to your islamaphobic BS only to stand by and witness this racism? I take it you agree with fascist racist rhetoric from the far right that perpetuates these tropes? We are the daughters of a wonderful feminist , a Muslim man, a working class Muslim man who worked until the age of 83. Despite racism being unlawful he was regularly abused and beaten during his working life because of the attitudes you are spouting Encouraged from head to toe from a young age often we Being unable to go out unaccompanied because of the same ignorant views you express So called “paki bashing”a reality of growng up You need to open your eyes 👀.. I’m not the problem.. it’s women like you standing on some ‘moral high ground..taking every opportunity to kick muslim women down, attempting to intimidate and silence us You do not want integration hence, you keep tweeting nonsense that keeps communities divided As long as you remain in denial we’ll never address your problem !

Bishop of Willesden on the Iftar : "The public iftar in Trafalgar Square was not an act of cultural imposition, nor a signal of division. It was, rather, a moment of hospitality: an invitation to share in the breaking of the fast during Ramadan, extended by one community to the wider public. It was open, generous and peaceful. It reflected something profoundly British; the instinct to gather, to mark significant moments together, and to make space in our common life for the traditions that shape our neighbours. "To suggest that such an event is somehow threatening risks misunderstanding both the nature of religious expression and the character of our national life. Religious freedom in this country has never meant the privatisation of belief. It has meant the opposite: the right of individuals and communities to live out their faith openly, visibly and without fear. That principle applies as much to Muslims observing Ramadan as it does to Christians celebrating Easter, Jews marking Passover, Hindus celebrating Diwali, or Sikhs observing Vaisakhi." churchofengland.org/media/news-and…

in the 1700s they would’ve executed this guy for this

This is a new one.

30,000 at Eid prayers in Small Heath, Birmingham. It’s probably fair to say that Sir Jim Ratcliffe may have had a point. Now for the inevitable fireworks battles later!
