@Matt_barlowe Congrats! Was worried when I saw the salary but if it's additional, I guess that is more in line with typical sports jobs.

@pierreanalytics Glad I'm not the only one annoyed by that. Follow through being in the general vicinity of the red isn't the same as getting the red.

Linesmen should be more strict about icings. I swear the amount of dump ins that happen behind the red line are egregious

Check out my Big Data Cup submission, Finding Player Pairs with Best Chemistry Based on Pass Type and Situation! Our framework also outperformed simpler proximity-based baselines in turnover prediction. Really proud of this work and Ryan, Eric, and Yashna for working on this with me! #BigDataCup #HockeyAnalytics Report + Code: github.com/lblommesteyn/b…

We won the @HockeyAnalytics Big Data Cup 2026! Forechecking is usually described as a system label. We tried to show it as a spatial timing problem: who arrives first, which lane is open, and how fast F2/F3 take that lane away.

Here is my project for the 2026 HALO Hackathon, where I quantify a defender’s value by estimating the expected goals they prevent through blocking passing and shooting lanes. Give it a read! #HockeyHALO2026 @ryancmiele/what-never-happened-measuring-defensive-value-through-spatial-suppression-b7f1953c3323" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@ryancmiele/wh…

Super excited to share my project from the 2026 HALO Hackathon, Rating Forecheckers Through Spatial Tree Boosting. This was my first time working with SportLogiq data it was really interesting to see the private data side. #HockeyHALO2026 @elawing1018/rating-forecheckers-through-spatial-tree-boosting-eaa8f68fca6b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@elawing1018/r…

Just noticed I left `response.json()[0]` in there from when I was checking that the from_dict worked. Should obviously be `frame`. Unless you want a bunch of copies of the first frame, in which case my code in the 1st image is flawless.

With stick taps to @RentoSaijo, my old code needs minimal revision to pull goal animation data from the NHL (in case any of us snake people wanna have fun with it)

@mattdonders @RentoSaijo Yeah, I've seen people using it in a couple places including your bot. Finally got curious enough to check it out myself. I like that the code can still fit in an image.

@Matt_barlowe All the players listed have played in the NHL. 65% of those from the CHL and 70% NCAA were 1st round picks.

In partnership with @Sportlogiq, we are hosting a Hackathon that will utilize data not available to the public. And the finalists will be flown out to Denver to present at HALO. Looking for a challenge? This is for you. sportlogiq.com/halo-hackathon/

@pierreanalytics Not lately. Feel like with some of the updated models it should be easier to get the players now, but it's been a minute since I played with any.

2025-2026 is up. I've left the raw coordinates, as my transpose isn't perfect. Also have added gameId and eventId so that you can connect it to the play-by-play events. Puck is where playerId has no value. Link below

Not sure how long in the API this has been for goals but this is how I was able to scrape the tracking data that you see in the gifs. Will upload raw csv on my GitHub whenever I update my site, which is usually every couple of days

dropbox.com/scl/fo/z2wp2l8… X signage for adjusted coordinates should be fine, y you might need to flip. Raw is based off the rink in this pic which is 2400px by 1020px. Still found after doing this that x and y seemed to be off by 6 feet which I adjusted, so some very rough loc est

Primary Assist heatmaps for 2024-2025 season as well as current, based on strength. Pretty cool stuff happening on the powerplay and one of the reasons why xG models (publicly) are so much less accurate for that strength
