This is fine for Celebrini in the sense that it’s pretty much impossible to overpay a high end superstar based on how scarce their impacts are, but it’s also a reflection of the higher superstars starting to get bigger shares of the pie again.

Auston Matthews’ second contract - 5 years at $11.634M AAV - is still roasted to this day as selfish and team unfriendly, despite him winning a Hart and three rockets on it. Celebrini’s new deal, also 5 years, is the equivalent of $13.5M on a 2019/20 cap, or about 16% higher.
