A Maul video game would just be a shallow action game unless you introduced mechanics around battling his own mental health issues, or make it a dating sim.

Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy and the Young Jedi Knights.
Luke, despite it being a bumpy road, managing to actually revive the Jedi to the point of them easily having triple digit numbers in his lifetime. It's so hopeful and filled with potential.

Amazon rewriting the live-action Mass Effect to be more appealing to non-gamers is just another sign that these Executives don't understand what makes something popular in the first place.
The obvious answer is to make the Mass Effect series with Henry Cavill as Commander Shepard and people will flock to it.

@JayDook Also, most people go into it thinking each planet is an individual Skyrim-like space to explore, dungeon crawl etc. that’s not the case.
In reality, the galaxy is the Skyrim overworld, and the systems and planets are the provinces, towns, dungeons etc.

A note to first-time Starfield players, especially those jumping in (soon) on PlayStation: Starfield is not a space sim. Period.
If you go in expecting that, you might miss what actually makes it special.
At its core, it’s a Bethesda RPG.
The same charm, freedom, and exploration we’ve loved for years.
That said… it borrows just enough from space sims to enhance the experience.
With dynamic planetary systems and shifting day/night cycles, you’ll rarely see the same sky twice.
So don’t rush it.
Take your time. Wander.
And seriously… look up!
