This wouldn't require explaining if you were able to look at it through the lenses of evolutionary biology and human nature. Looking ripped means appearing as the most promising slave. It means looking like you've become addicted to pain because that's the greatest achievement you have time for, as if one can't strengthen social bonds and build an empire. It means looking like the disciplined soldier that will gladly give his life for those more important than him, etc.

@JennyBGoodX Picaña - in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, & here in Mexico - has at least a 1/2", smooth fat cap on one side. This one appears to have been scalped. Cut crosswise in 2" sections, roast or grill.
