Today marks the relaunch of the OutSystems Engineering Blog on @Medium 🎉 We’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes engineering and product stories, architecture and design decisions, and lessons learned from building and operating at scale in the AI-native era. We’re kicking things off with a deep dive into how our teams implemented a scale-to-zero architecture across thousands of Kubernetes applications. This work led to a significant reduction in idle compute, while carefully navigating real-world tradeoffs including cold starts, retries, dependencies, background jobs, and user experience. A big thank you to João Valentim for authoring this deep dive, and to Pedro Nunes and Nuno Antão for their contributions 👏 This initiative reflects the work of many teams across OutSystems R&D, including Backend Runtime, Runtime Data Model, Maestro, ICE, GRS, and Tenant Lifecycle.
