@JeffGrimmie It is absurd to have a problem with AI learning from code you have open sourced. If github trained models on the contents of your private repos, that would be a violation.

I know there is some overlap between open source and anti-AI activists, but I have a hard time reconciling it. My million+ open source LOC were always intended as a gift to the world. Yes, I would make arguments about how it would strengthen our communities, and the GPL would prevent outright exploitation by our competitors, but those were to allay fears of my partners to allow me to make the gift.
AI training on the code magnifies the value of the gift. I am enthusiastic about it!
Some people do look at open source as a tool for social change, career advancement, or reputation building, but those are all downstream of the gift.

Genuinely devastating take to see from someone who popularized the GPL across so many communities. Fails to appreciate the social and cultural importance of the license.

@Project_RCC @rick_rgmorin3 @Tesla_AI Just leave it on chill & press the accelerator a bit till it gets to 62 & it might stay at 62 or climb up to 63-64
English

What do we do? In a 55 zone, Sloth is 55, capped. Chill is 57, capped.
Standard is variable ~70. Hurry is up to 79.
How can I drive 64? Safe, relaxing, fast enough and guaranteed no ticket?
@Tesla_AI
If Sloth is 55 and Standard 70 why is Chill capped at 57? Why not 62-63?

@bigbird3420 @RivianRuckus The software of the CT is lacking compared to others models in some ways, including FSD. I’m not disappointed getting it, but there are some things my HW3 Model S Plaid does better.
English

@RivianRuckus I just like the software of the cybertruck and all the little extras like the air suspension. And I know my tesla has been tried and true through the 122k miles on my model 3.
English

Most of my neighbors have rivians, ev hummers, and a mix of Tesla/hyundai, audi ev etc. One of my neighbors asked about my R1T a few months back so I thought “great, I can put a butt in the seat” and convert him from his audi. During his drive the sensors kept disconnecting, the windshield had been cracked a month (no appts), and I had bad screen lag. I soft reset while he was driving and it stayed off for 15 min. Today he’s got a shiny new Lightning in his driveway and I don’t blame him one bit.
English

@itskyleconner FSD 13.2.9 on a Cyberbeast still doesn’t have reliable lane centering on the highway, and so yep… still being driven manually everywhere.
English

The crazy part is a base Cybertruck doesn’t even have basic lane centering
The one we just had on test had to be manually driven everywhere 😳

Can someone remind me why a $40k Tesla can summon to my door but my $90k Tesla cannot?

At Tesla, we don’t make slow cars or slow user interfaces!
William Jarbeaux@RoamingNorway
If it’s not like this or better they should send the car back to the factory. And it’s not only about the chip, if you can’t optimize the software it won’t run well anywhere.

@AIDRIVR It doesn’t. I have had FSD disengage when it believes it’s going to be in an accident multiple times, such as thinking it was going to rear end a car on the highway even with emergency braking.
And when that happens it’s unavailable for a short time.
English

@TheBryJack @zigziggityzoo @itskyleconner @KobraToldya Late September VIN here. Less than 1,700 miles when I had this happen.

English

@theckman @zigziggityzoo @itskyleconner @KobraToldya Late October VIN Beast and zero mechanical issues. 10k miles. None of the differential issues Kyle described either
English

@TheBryJack @zigziggityzoo @itskyleconner @KobraToldya So if I already had the work done, then presumably I am running the same inverters as those coming off the line today.
English

@TheBryJack @zigziggityzoo @itskyleconner @KobraToldya Even late VIN Foundations aren’t sorted, which makes me question whether the non-Foundations are in trouble.
I am in the 37,000 and had a dual rear inverter fault within a month of getting it in March 2025, and they claim my vehicle already has the recall work done.
