@thecrazycoder

Building my indie gamedev dream, one evening at a time. Working on Undying West — a co-op horror shooter. In the Old West. With robot zombies!

Game devs, would you rather have A. a single viral game or B. multiple semi-successful games (Assuming both profit the same)

Uh yeah … subscription shovelware. No thanks. Subscription services have already done irreparable damage to the music and film industry. I’ll be sticking with Steam and pay for quality games.

@SixLasers I'm not putting anything down. I'm happy a game like this is in development, that it's not fake, that it's real, and that a small indie team is making a traditional type zombie game....

@MrAwolf @IndieGameJoe Hah, yes. The squeaky wheel. I’ve always sucked at tooting my own horn. Trying hard to squeak my wheels, but i regularly find myself just falling back into my lurking behaviour because I feel I don’t have anything meaningful to add or show off. Squeak!

I asked Grok a few a days ago " what is wrong with my account?, why do i have 30k followers , only reach 2k views with maybe 60-100 likes ." Here are some things it told me to help. 1. Stop posting outside links with your Gifts of metal. 2. stop posting whenever you want and use key times to engage more people. 3. Try to engage more, by asking question. do you like this or do you like that, and try using more polls. 4. Try to engage with bigger accounts that are doing bigger things than you and repost them. It ended with this.. saying stick with it, the Algo is being a real dick right now... yes it actually said that. SO I am not going to do any of those things. And just do wtf I want when I want. HA! #indiedev

@MrAwolf @IndieGameJoe I hear you. tough situation, and the slop-biased social media algos are insufferable, on a good day. We just have to persevere and keep figuring out new ways to get eyeballs on our games. I’m still trying to cram more time into my week for meaningful dev. Part-time solodev suck.

Well he has not promoted mine LOL. but sure.. I am just a bit tired of being part of all this. I tend to get looked over as it seems i am too big , and don't need help.. I am not a solo dev, as there are 2 of us.. so we miss that niche. we pretty much miss all the trends. Just a bit tired of it all tbh. and getting old.

@MrAwolf @IndieGameJoe I say “retweet”. Thats not quite accurate. He promotes indie games, properly. Not just doing lame retweets / reposting of content that I see from other channels. IGJ is one of the good ones.

Something interesting that I’ve noticed is that accounts that tweet lots of content gets a lot of attention, really quickly. Take @IndieGameJoe for example. He retweets a lot of indie game content and he’s account has been growing like crazy (I’ve seen the same thing happen with other accounts too). Whereas us indie devs that only work on a single game can’t compete with the same volume of content for visibility. The best we can do is expose our game via accounts like IGJ to expose our game to their (already massive) audience. IGJ grows his audience, we tap into the that audience as best we can.

Mords ⚙️ Game Dev -TRYING TO RIGHT PAST WRONGS-
This is what Dave pays me for his publishing my game Primordia by the way. $194.84 bucks this month - with percentages attaches that make absolutely zero sense and seem to have no connection whatsoever to the publishing contract for Primordia I have with WEG Make it make sense.

Guys, I think I am going to quit Indie Game Joe. All I do is try to shine a spotlight on indie games in my spare time, help out where I can behind closed doors, and there is just so much hate. I can't do this anymore. I'm sorry.

This is what it took to make Super Meat Boy 3D work. We went through a lot of different gameplay and camera setups before finally landing on something that feels right. Here’s a look at some of them 👇

Wow. These opinions have touched a nerve. As a massive Spielberg and The Dig fan, that was a disappointing read. Oh well, the each his own, i guess. For me, games will always be the ultimate art form, where all other forms of art (writing, sound, music, modelling, texturing, animation) converge in an interactive medium that can deliver thoughtful and emotional experiences like no other. Instead of being a passive participant, you, the player, are now part of the experience. Sorry, theres no changing my opinion on this topic!

"Computer games are not art" One of the most prominent people to say this was film critic Roger Ebert in his 2010 article "Video Games Can Never Be Art". Then there are Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, both expressing that games aren't art. Spielberg specifically said something along the lines of "the second you get the controller something turns off in the heart, and it becomes a sport," arguing games struggle to create the same deep empathy or emotional connection as films because of the interactive/sport-like element. Hideo Kojima (the game designer behind Metal Gear Solid), doesn't consider videogames art, emphasizing that "true art radiates purely from the creator without the interactive compromises games require." "The second you get the controller something turns off in the heart" - probably the line I disagree with the most. I am not saying all games are art - just like not all books or movies or paintings are qualifying to be it. But how can you look at some of these games and say they are not art? Literally just looking at them, not even playing them. How is this not art? If it touches you on an emotional level, and stimulates your creative and playful mind, lets you remember and feel things - isn't that an essential aspect and key element of art?

Hello everybody! The development of my new game "The Last Letter" is coming to an end. This is a small experimental project where I tried to play around with sound and visuals. What do you think?

A few months ago I asked if there were any solo devs out here on X. The response was so overwhelming, I created a showcase because I was blown away by the games in the comments. The showcase will be going live next month. I’d love to offer a feature article for a solo dev written by one of our editors - Shaun. So X algorithm, please show this post to the solo devs out there. If you see this post, drop your trailer and tell me a bit about your game! Bonus points if your game is quirky, absurd or just plain out there. 😅

#solodevsurvivor I have been trying to make games on my own since I was 21. I am 45 now. All my games financially failed. However, this time it's different. Golel is a first-person, turn-based RPG. You can try out the Demo at Steam. Search "Golel".
