@kola_wole_ Switzerland did, England did too. Just couldn't stop his teammates. Messi against tops teams has a terrible goals per game rate. That's why books pay plus money for him to score against Switzerland/England/Spain/etc But biased clowns like you have no clue.

My biggest take away from this World Cup is, coaches are lucky Messi is 39 and not 25. There’s not a single coach in world football today capable of coming up with a game plan to stop prime Messi for 90mins.

this kid is living proof that trophies aren't what decide who's the better player lmao. 2 goals across the Euros and World Cup combined, yet he's on the verge of winning both before turning 20. when you're judging an individual, consistency and what they produce on the pitch will always matter more than the medals they collect.

🚨 JUST IN: If Yamal wins the World Cup on Sunday. The only trophy left to win in his career will be the Champions League. He is just 19.

@ChargersFan4Eva @HarmlessHQ Goat debate ended in 2016 when Messi retired and Ronaldo won the EUROS. Since then it's FIFA and Referees trying their best to bring him level with Ronaldo's achievements, this is just doing more harm than good to his career, you're absolutely sick if you regard him as d best 👍

This is just the difference between Messi and Ronaldo. When Argentina needed a goal, Messi pulled out from the 18 and started playing from deep outside the box. He was asking for every ball and pushing every player to better positions. He knew the England defense defense had been set-up to stop all run-ins into the 18. He started delivering world class crosses that the England defense lines. Ronaldo cannot try this. He'll rather remain inside the box and be raising hand like person that fell into a pit.

@markklfc David Beckham do you let Messi play for you on the field like he has in the World Cup ie all the cheating and all the fouls, some deserving red cards?? If the answer is yes you’re not the man I thought you were. Your integrity for me has just sunk to an all time low.

David Beckham on England’s 2-1 defeat to Argentina after Lionel Messi inspired the comeback. 🗣️ “I’ll be honest I exploded when England scored. I was on my feet celebrating because I genuinely thought we had one foot in the World Cup final. Then I looked at the pitch and one thought hit me… ‘Messi is still playing.’” “And that’s the mistake everyone makes. They celebrate too early against a man who has spent nearly twenty years destroying dreams. The scoreboard said England were winning. Messi’s face said, ‘This game isn’t over.’” “I know Leo better than most because he plays for my club. I’ve watched him train, I’ve watched him prepare, I’ve watched him win. But even knowing how special he is, what he produced tonight still left me speechless.” “England had the lead, the momentum and the crowd. Then Messi completely took over the match without even needing to score. Two assists. Two moments of pure genius. He ripped England’s belief apart and dragged Argentina into another World Cup final.” “At 39 years old, he made some of the best defenders in world football look like they were chasing shadows. That’s frightening. Most players are retired by that age. Messi is still deciding World Cup semi-finals.” “As an Englishman, this is heartbreaking. As a football man, I have to be honest I’ve never seen anything like him. You can have the perfect game plan, the perfect tactics and the perfect lead, but if Lionel Messi decides the story isn’t finished, he’ll rewrite the ending himself.” “I celebrated England’s goal… and ten minutes later I was watching the greatest player I’ve ever seen tear our World Cup dream into pieces. That’s how ruthless he is. That’s why every generation will remember his name.” “I wanted England in the final more than anything. But when Lionel Messi reaches this level, you stop watching a footballer… you’re watching football history being written right in front of your eyes.”

Messi once retired from international football because Argentina couldn’t win. Ronaldo never walked away. That didn’t end the GOAT debate. Ronaldo was the first of the two to win a major international trophy for his country. But now that Argentina have a team that steps up on the biggest occasions, suddenly the international football Messi once ran away from is now the standard we’re supposed to use to judge his career against Ronaldo’s. You can fool the casuals, but not ME!

I respect MESSI but I prefer CRISTIANO RONALDO .. Not because of awards or trophies , if it was about trophies & awards I would have switched sides since 2022 due to Messi winning the WC .. I watched both played & it was a conscious decision to pick Ronaldo, not because he played at Manchester United but because he plays much better , Ronaldo is football.

This is one nonsense you'll never hear me say or tweet. "I'm finally convinced" Because of a world cup tournament?? So all through Cristiano Ronaldo peaked career moments since 2008 till now didn't convinced you he was the greatest? All his non-rigged Ballons d'Ors, all the 900+ goals, all the countless hattricks, all the Champions League masterclasses, all the record-breaking goals, all the last-minute winners, all the bicycle kick goals, all the long-range screamers, all the comebacks, all the trophies, all the individual awards, the leadership, the inspiration he's given to billions around the world, and also his longevity in football. But one World Cup suddenly changed your entire opinion? If that's all it took, then maybe you were never truly a Cristiano Ronaldo fan.

Messi isn't THAT good. He had a charmed life at Barca, playing in the world's best attack with Suarez & Neymar. It's easy to score goals in La Liga where there is no depth below the top four. When he moved to PSG he only managed 32 goals in three seasons. League 1 is also an easy league if you're playing for Paris - but Messi didn't shine. For the last three years Messi has been playing the equivalent of English non-league football at Inter Miami. He hasn't played with world class players for over three years. As we stand in 2026, Jude Bellingham is a stronger, more skillful player. Kane isn't far behind. Bayern have worked wonders on him. There is every chance we can pull this off tonight - but don't get sucked into the "Messi the football God" garbage. He's an ageing player no longer playing competitive football. Argentina will be dirty and have the refs in their pocket, and England need to be mindful of that. Let's GO!
