@CPSThinkTank Ultimately, Britain needs to balance the books. A combination of the Iran crisis, years of fiscal weakness/buck-passing and the fiscal illiteracy of much of the Labour backbenches is setting us up to learn that lesson pretty damn brutally.

What many people within Labour seems to be assuming is that they have some kind of financial/policy wiggle room. They don't. (1/?)

Feels like this is getting massively overlooked. Brighton have played 12 fewer games than us, Bournemouth 15 (almost half a season!) fewer. Look at clubs relatively like us who have played similar amount - 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th. What we are doing is really quite impressive.

Konsa, Pau, Kamara, Tielemans and McGinn are probably the only players in this entire team I wouldn't consider any offers for in Summer. If we got the £100m quoted for Rogers take it and run. It would need to be a big offer, but I would sell Watkins to.

Villa have quite rightly come in for a bit of stick over the last few days. But worth considering a bit of context. In the last 10 years (since PL financial rules came in), three clubs have qualified for the CL through the League and won a European trophy in the same season - Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool. That shows just what Villa are trying to juggle. Doing one of them would be a big achievement, doing both would be enormous.
