Ambedkar did challenge the idea of a personal God and rejected the authority of scriptures that upheld caste hierarchy. But reducing his worldview to atheism misses the core of what he stood for. He wasn’t arguing against faith for the sake of it—he was questioning systems that justified inequality in the name of faith. His turn to Buddhism was not a contradiction. It was a conscious choice. A shift toward a moral, rational, and socially just framework—one that placed human dignity, equality, and compassion above blind belief. Ambedkar didn’t ask, “Does God exist?” He asked, “Does your belief system uphold justice?” That’s a far more uncomfortable—and far more powerful—question.

डॉ,बाबासाहेबांचे अंगरक्षक कोंडाबाई कांबळे.. बार्शी जिल्हा सोलापूर येथे ह्या आजही राहतात. संतप्त जमावाने एकदा डॉ बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांच्या सभेवर दगडाचा हल्ला केला त्यावेळी बाबासाहेब आणि जमावाच्या मध्ये विनायक कांबळे आणि कोंडाबाई कांबळे या दांपत्याने ढाल बनून डाॅ बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांचे संरक्षण केले. सन १९३८ साली बार्शी येथील भिम नगर मध्ये डॉ बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांची सभा आयोजित करण्यात आली. आजूबाजूच्या परिसरातील अनेक अबलावृद्ध, युवक, नागरिक बाबासाहेबांचे विचार ऐकण्यासाठी जमा झाले होते. काही वेळाने अचानक दगडांचा मारा सुरु झाला. पूर्ण जमाव जिवाच्या आकांताने सैरावैरा पळू लागला. पण बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर हे मंचावरून हटले नाहीत. हल्लेखोर आता मंचावर जाऊन डॉ बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांना दगाफटका करणार असं दिसताच विनायक कांबळे आणि कोंडाबाई कांबळे हे बाबासाहेब आणि जमावाच्या मध्ये छातीचा कोट करून उभे राहिले. या दांपत्याच्या हातात काठ्या होत्या. त्यानंतर दोघांनी अशी काही लाठीकाठी फिरवायला सुरुवात केली की, येणार प्रत्येक दगड हा काठीने परत येणाऱ्या दिशेकडे जातं असे. भारतात समता स्थापित करताना हा एक अद्भुत संग्राम होता. विनायक कांबळे हे ब्रिटिश आर्मी मध्ये सैनिक होते. त्यांनी आपल्या पत्नीला लाठीकाठी, दांडपट्टा चालविण्यात तरबेज केले होते. ज्यावेळी हे दोघे डॉ बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांवर झालेल्या हल्ल्याचा प्रतिकार करत होते त्यावेळी कोंडाबाई कांबळेच्या गर्भात चार महिन्याचा पिंड होता. त्या गर्भारपणात सुद्धा त्यांनी कशाचीही तमा न बाळगता डॉ बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांच्या जीवनाचे रक्षण केले आहे. याचा त्यांना आजही सार्थ अभिमान आहे. आपल्यालाही असायला हवा. आज त्या ११० वर्षांच्या आहेत. This article exposes how these practices are not isolated incidents but rooted in deeper cultures of domination, conformity, and institutional silence. Why do future doctors learn to endure — and perpetuate — such violence? And why do punitive laws fail to stop it? A powerful call to move beyond token reforms toward structural and cultural change that restores dignity, equality, and compassion within medical education systems.
