This will end up the same way image and video ads ended up after they banned 3rd party ad networks. I went from making ~10,000$/day to 10$/day from ads. Not joking. The biggest revenue opportunity for both developers and Roblox was killed for who knows what reason.

The US Government is holding a meeting today proposing laws that would require Age Verification on ALL APPS through the app store. In order to download any app on your phone you'd have to verify your age using a Government ID or Face Scan. This is a massive invasion of privacy.

A lot of quality games will get overshadowed due to oversaturation. The success of a game has in large part been reduced to its mechanisms. It'll be profitable but it will become a slop engine if they don't refine the algorithm. There should not be ~50 successful copies of the same game.

Alright, I’m just going to say it. I’m sure it’ll make people mad. My prediction: By the end of this year, the majority of games on Roblox will be made by AI or at least heavily assisted by AI. It’s already happening, it’s just a matter of time until AI gets good enough for someone who doesn’t know how to program to be able to make a game. Once that happens the amount of games that are going to release on Roblox every day will exponentially increase, and it’s going to be more and more slop. There will be significantly more competition and trends will move much faster than they already do now. Overall, I think it’ll increase the number of users making money on the platform, but decrease the average amount each developer is making. To try to look at the positive side, in my mind there are two things: - AI will allow anyone to make games without understanding gameplay loops or retention drivers, thus people with little game design experience will likely fail, so traditional developers will still prevail - This may actually push traditional developers & studios on the platform to focus more on higher quality games that will stand out compared to the “steal a”, “simulator”, “obby” slop that developers using AI will flood the platform with even further than it already is. I see starting in the second half of 2025 to the end of 2026 as a transition period for Roblox. Where everything just kind of sucks and everyone’s trying to make slop to generate as much money as possible, but then I feel like this much competition will push the truly good and creative developers to make high-quality, well thought-out, long-lasting IPs. Think a Pokemon or Hello Kitty, on a Roblox scale. We’ve seen it happen, there are some truly good and creative games made by Roblox Devs that have turned into life-long IPs: - Dandy’s World - Piggy - Rivals - Creatures of Sonaria - Dragon Adventures - Adopt Me - Dress to Impress - Forsaken and so many more. I’m not a fortune teller, so I could be entirely wrong, but I don’t think the doomer take of “Roblox will purely be a slop engine that isn’t profitable” is the correct take.

It’s easy to dunk on the “Godel’s Incompleteness Theorem therefore Consciousness” crowd, but I can see the psychological appeal: 1. The theorem, which is a special case of Lawvere’s Fixed Point Theorem, points to the fact that for a (sufficiently rich) space S, the space of statements about S is always larger than S itself. So in order to reflect on S, we must go up to S’s meta environment. 2. A peculiarity of the thinking subject is that one can always “go up a level”; there seems to be no upper bound on iterative reflection. One can in principle reflect on any totality—however encompassing— and thus always stay “meta” to that totality. 3. This unconditional meta-ness is for many symbolic of the essential freedom of ourselves as thinkers. 4. Of course, this is not to say Incompleteness “proves” anything about consciousness. Yet it reminds one of the transcendence of the thinking subject, its not-this-not-that, its being-in-the-world-but-not-of-the-world. It’s a legitimate cause for wonder.
