Section 230 is exactly why platforms can ignore digital violence and online abuse like this. I know this firsthand. I was a victim of the 2014 iCloud hack, and were uploaded to sites like Motherless without my consent. It took years of fighting to remove that content—while it continued to spread. That’s the problem. Takedowns happen after the damage is done. The Protect Act fixes this at the source. It requires age and consent verification for uploaders to adult platforms, stopping digital violence before it begins. We don’t need better cleanup. We need prevention.

I fully support Amendment 300 in the UK’s Crime and Policing Bill. It follows the same exact framework as the PROTECT Act—requiring real age and consent verification for uploaders to adult sites. As a survivor, I know exactly why this is needed and why takedowns don’t work. They used a distributor, which I just discovered, and that distributor’s name is Vydia. They used Vydia to upload all these AI-generated songs. Vydia has since decided to make copyright claims on all of the videos that were used to feed that AI engine to sound like me. So Vydia has come forward and made copyright claims on my YouTube page. Because YouTube does not personally review these things, I am no longer making money on YouTube. Vydia is making money on YouTube off of my own videos of me playing my own banjo in my own backyard with traditional folk songs, some for my own family, over AI-generated music.”

Downstream of this are censorious laws like the Online Safety Act, if parents abdicate responsibility to the state. If these are the sons being raised, the fathers should be ashamed.
