The shorthand BLT is OK on first reference for a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Bonus tip: No Oxford comma in "bacon, lettuce and tomato," a very simple series. We do use the final comma in more complex series: I had orange juice, toast, and ham and eggs for breakfast.
