🔴 @Delta is cutting in-flight service on 450 daily flights starting May 19, and frequent flyers are NOT happy about it. From that date, any flight under 350 miles in economy will get zero service. Nothing. Not even water. That covers a lot of routes people fly every single week for work. The old system had an express service on flights of 251 to 499 miles, which was coffee, tea, or water. That is now gone entirely for shorter hops. Now, to be fair, there is a flip side. Around 600 daily flights in the 350 to 499 mile range are actually getting upgraded from express to full beverage service. So more people overall will get a proper drink cart. First class keeps full service across the board regardless of distance. #Delta #DeltaAirLines #Aviation

I guess I never thought about it but what happens to the people who work on the actual planes? I’m sure the office people would be able to go to almost any other company but what about the pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, etc. that have very specialized positions?

@thepeej21 @SuperJTB2015 Not all at spirit pilots make that much. You assume they’ll get a severance, I have not seen evidence to this and I know a few pilots there. Lastly, you’d be surprised how many people who do make 300k a year and still live paycheck to paycheck.

I’m looking at flights right now, not telling you the vacation destination. Mind you the same flights I was trying to look into on Thursday and where technically right now would technically be the prime time to buy the flights. (2-3 months prior to flight).
The price to set destination was $265 round-trip on Thursday. Today they are $456 round-trip.
Look, I understand supply and demand, but with spirit airline shutting down, that doesn’t give airlines the ability to double/ triple in price. I feel like this is leaning more toward extortion Or monopolization. I might be overreacting, but why are prices suddenly tripling the moment a budget airline ceases operations.
