@JuliaDavisNews It seems small and obvious but I submit it is not to be dismissed as such. The greater the ego is threatened the more life or death it becomes. And this applies not just for Putin but for a country of millions. It is indeed existential and has been for some time.

@JuliaDavisNews For me the scariest part of this growing rhetoric about historical self-importance is the clear parallel with post-WW1 Germany which laid foundation for WW2: Human ego after world stage humiliation. The fall of the #2 superpower USSR was clearly never going out with a whimper.

Meanwhile in Russia: state TV pundits argued that the Russian people should be disabused of the notion that wars of aggression are wrong, as Russia prepares to re-take "the historical Russian lands," restoring the USSR and beyond.
