3D is becoming an interface for creating and interacting with worlds 🌎 Earlier this month, we brought builders together in SF to explore that idea at our first World Labs Hackathon. Here’s a glimpse of what they built. Interested in joining the next one? Let us know!

Grateful to be part of this - the other hackers shared a few ideas that are already influencing my work in the space 🤔 Thanks again to @theworldlabs for the generous invite! Had a blast and can't wait to release STARSPEED 🚀

@otisframpton Currently the cozy world doesn't support VR. However, feel free to visit Marble via your headset and open any world on the explore page to view it in VR 😎 marble.worldlabs.ai

update: this just went live in Teleport capture a space → generate a fully navigable 3D world in minutes 📍 captured in a friend's apartment on Iriomote Island, Japan 🇯🇵
Martin Maly@mountain_mal

i built an app that converts any space into a digital clone in minutes as the founder of Teleport - the only iphone app that can capture high-quality 360° panoramas - i already had the perfect input when @theworldlabs released their 3d reconstruction api 📍 first test - a co-working space in chiang mai 🇹🇭 the flow: 1. capture 16 ultra-wide photos 2. stitch into a 360° equirectangular image 3. reconstruct a fully navigable 3d environment via @theworldlabs api there’s something profound about exploring these 3d worlds. it brings you back in a way photos never could.

@chatgpt21 Marble generates persistent 3D Gaussian splats that become part of the world. They are created once initially.

@theworldlabs Does it generate the graphics and hard set them in the world or is it procedurally generating it every time you turn around

@VORTEX_Promos The final scene in the demo is a 3D Gaussian splat, which can be exported for use in other game engines. Marble also supports exporting meshes for collider geometry. In this demo, we just use the original grey box as the collider mesh. learn more here: youtube.com/watch?v=MPUdY6…

Yes, you can use the expand feature to expand the world from your initial generation. Right now though, 3D structure is only consistent in the initial Chisel generation, so expanded areas use the visual context but the geometry may not perfectly align yet. More info about the expand feature here: youtube.com/watch?v=SmUlqM…

@theworldlabs Can you use the context of the initial generation to expand the world? Example I use the demo'ed 3d model, generate a world with marble, and then create another 3d model in the same scene to expand.

@RotcivWho Yes, Marble can generate a 3D world from 2D inputs like images. However, the demo you’re seeing above is using 3D block layouts as structured input to guide the world generation. More details here: youtube.com/watch?v=7r_5FH…
