The one thing that I have genuinely enjoyed about #RubyOnRails is the console. Being able to dynamically interact with the app's components, test your assumptions and immediately see the results is awesome.

Honest 24-Hour review of Ruby on Rails: I LOVE THIS FRAMEWORK. the @rails team is amazing (or idk if @dhh maintains is by himself which is likely) But I genuinely have never felt more productive in a web framework. Where have you been all my life🥹

ORMs are good even if you’re a SQL god: Use ORMs for your side projects because the performance impact is approximately zero and the convenience is 100x. Use ORMs for work projects so next quarter you can rewrite it in raw SQL, reduce COGS by several million, and get promoted.

@mariofusco Maybe I'm midbrained, but I've heard Lombok can cause subtle issues. Newer versions of Java have handy new features that outmode some of what Lombok does

@teej_dv @ThePrimeagen Find a shinier toy. Bonus points if it’s just a rebranding of something that’s been around since the 70’s

Hot take: this is a really dumb reason to dislike a JS framework. It’s fine. If you’re worrying about shit like this, you don’t have enough impactful work to do.

@AdamRackis At least the behaviours are visible in this format. An alternative would be digging around trying to ascertain a structure etc

@AdamRackis I like this take. I enjoy Svelte much more these days, but as an 8 year react user it feels to me we are entering the “it’s cool to hate it phase”. Ridiculous. Try writing that same app in vanilla JS… RIP

@Sc00tr_Grrl @yechielk "Am I wrong for forcing people to stay in jobs that aren't right for them under threat of losing health insurance? No. It's the quiet quitters who are wrong" (apparently)

@yechielk And ironically is very bad for capitalism, because it hurts the free market of jobs. People stay in a bad job just for healthcare insurance.
