@hbrooks_coach still seems to go down way too much, to the point where he doesn't get decisions he should because everyone just assumes it's a dive

Xavi Simons would’ve been phenomenal in one of Klopps Liverpool teams. I really like his approach to football. It’s always offensive minded first and he doesn’t mind losing the ball. Needs to cut out the odd sloppy pass and decision , but he will lose the ball a lot and that’s fine and what you have to allow becuase he really tries to take it to the opposition an has the quality and creativity to do so.

@hbrooks_coach add to this point that the PL physicality is enabled by lenient referees, which does not fly with UEFA

Over reliance on physicality and rigid tactical structure getting undone by teams who prioritise quality and decision makers on the pitch. People say the game has changed. But the skeleton will remain. It’s obvious. IQ, technique and better footballers have more capabilities than teams who lean more into physicality. If you have better players, and they’re more unpredictable, of course it’s going to be harder to play against than the ones who are - worse footballers overall - more predictable - physically worse because they become so reliant on intensity and physicality but also don’t train correctly / enough in the week to make them robust enough to cope with it

The biggest question for Wednesday is: Van De Ven or Dragusin? One looks like he is trying to intentionally sabotage the team, the other also looks like he is also trying to sabotage the team, but not intentionally.

@thfcdoomster I disagree - imo this is almost certainly Kudus or Simons. 2 players whose only experience of Tottenham is frank-ball, and 2 high-profile attackers.

I have a feeling this is van de Ven unfortunately. I could be wrong, but he is the only player that really comes to mind here especially considering the way he acted in the last few weeks.

🚨One #thfc player has expressed to his team-mates that he is not too concerned by the possibility of relegation because he believes he can and will leave the club this summer. @jaydmharris

What is the one thing you'd want in your team if you were stepping in to manage a team in a relegation battle? You can only pick ONE.

@georgeachillea no, the interim should be mason or Keane. need an ex-player who will be actually liked and who understands how absurd it would be for spurs to go down. also the players need babying

Can’t believe I’m even having to type this but do Spurs need to go for Dyche for the rest of the season? We are VASTLY running out of options and the panic button has definitely been hit and I found his sacking at Forest was really odd imo

Not defending Tudor but he’s had some awful luck. Everyone game changing; NLD- Muani goal 2-2 Fulham - push on Dragusin 1-0 Palace - VDV red card 1-0 at time Atletico - 3 slips leading to 3-0 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not a chance I’m sacking Tudor before Anfield lol you guys still haven’t learned about giving interims a guaranteed loss in their first game? Peak for him because we should’ve beaten Palace before the VDV sabotage

@HigherEd_UK realistically 30,000-35,000 not a massive difference, at least not compared to the real premiums (35k ISH Vs 80,000+)

@thfc_jude That's your takeaway from a chart that says Oxbridge performing arts graduates outearn post-1992 lawyers. Moreover, not all fields are focused on turning prestige into income. They can also turn it into more prestige.

@umirf1 might be an insane take but I somewhat understand taking him off in the respect of his confidence is so shot he would probably concede 3 more errors like that if he saw out the 90

Kinsky was poor in his second mistake that lead to the goal which was likely downstream from a confidence issue after making the first error BUT the amount of players slipping today from both teams is alarming. The first mistake is out of his control. The second is down to that. Have to protect the kid when it’s probably not a completely individual error.

@Kay_THFC agree but if he was that bad and if Tudor had that little faith why start him? and if you are going to hook him, ignoring him afterwards? insane

@_Tobolos_ FA cup already has a European spot. Is already a dream for the teams that do win it that aren't top 5. UCL spot won't stop top clubs rotating for it fundamentally.

Now that we have the coefficient system which potentially gives England an extra/5th spot in the UCL… I believe that extra spot (any year it arises) should be given to the winner of the FA Cup Would automatically force everyone to take it more seriously, and gives potential for more fairytales Imagine Palace, Wigan or Portsmouth in the UCL. Would change their clubs lives It would also force big teams to stay honest and not get bailed out by 5th

This is the lineup I’d PERSONALLY go for vs Atletico Madrid to try and create the best balance from the players we have available… (1) As much as we lose a bit of creativity without Xavi, I think for the away leg it’s best to go with more physically capable players and play him in the home leg where he’ll have a lot more time on the ball to show what he can do like he has done in other home UCL fixtures. Souza isn’t registered and I think it’s SO important to have a left footer there so VDV should play LB. If you look at their average position in their win vs Brugge, their players clunk up out wide and leave a sizeable gap in the middle, so going for 3 in midfield could be the key. I’m also sick of seeing Vicario in the starting XI. Playing him ahead of Kinsky was fair enough originally as usually his shot stopping is much better, but he’s not even doing that well now so I’d rather have the keeper who is far far more secure in possession and can launch quick counter attacks (2) Out Of Possession: I think it should become a tight 4-4-2 to condense the pitch as much as possible. I just personally feel the recent 5-3-2 under Tudor makes it more difficult for us to counter attack and leaves us a bit open in midfield at times (3) In possession I think it could be one of two things, the first is when VDV joins attacks on the left side as we know he likes to do with his runs. I think what Gray is good at is the “silent” role that never gets attention, which is covering the space to allow fullbacks to attack. So he can slot in and act as a RCB to allow Porro to go forward and utilise his attacking abilities better. This also allows Richy and Tel to get closer to goal where they are at their best too (4) The next option is when VDV stays back to defend. I still think we need to try and get Porro up the pitch as much as possible, so VDV can slot in as LCB to maintain the cover at the back and you have the added protection of Palhinha in front. Tel has shown vs Fulham that he can hold width and drive inwards, but when he does he will probably need an overlapping run from someone else so that’s where Sarr needs to get involved more in this case imo. This way you still have midfield and defensive protection for counters but we get our available players in their best positions.
