@South_SPC I once had to stop a man by running in front of his car at traffic lights after he was completely ignoring me trying to wave him down. As he got out to shout at me , his terrified cat jumped from the car roof into his arms. He’d driven 2 miles 😳

@history99917180 @SamRaincock @RetsofNevets @MotabilityOps I picked up a new Toyota yesterday . Whilst reading through the manual I discovered it has a driver monitoring camera , which checks for sleepiness , blind spot and mirror checking . I did wonder whether it could be asked for in the event of a serious crash.

@SamRaincock @RetsofNevets @MotabilityOps The manufacturers don’t like people to know about it. I had to get an order from a high court to access Porsche data. Bloke said he was doing 65 when he killed someone. Bad news, car said he was doing 117.

@Brick_Cop @obbsie @marksandspencer You and I have actually spoken over the years in our various capacities . All I can say is that the Met is immeasurably poorer for your leaving and I sincerely hope that whatever you do next , brings you joy .

Nothing quite says ‘leaving do’ like your old Area Car driver travelling down to see you and bringing the most fitting gift possible. A decade ago in 2016 I had my first Area Car posting and it’s safe to say I was nervous. I spent my whole probation on different neighbourhood teams, so finally being on Response and getting posted in the Area Car really meant a lot. My team mates told me to buy the driver a coffee and ‘wiggly worms’ from BP when we filled the car up. So I did, and my now wonderful friend said; “Good Lad open them up then”. Eager to please, I burst open the packet all over the dashboard and both of us. Expecting to be ejected from the car at a rate of knots, instead he laughed, we cleared them up and I bought a fresh bag. Over the next few years he taught me what Hendon never could; the reality of Policing London. As we said goodbye last night, he put his hand in his pocket, pulled out a packet of ‘wiggly worms’, handed them to me, laughed and walked off into the night. I will miss the people terribly, not The Job. #ThinBlueLine 🚨

@obbsie @BettyBoochichi2 That man ? That bloke whose last interview as commissioner to the Times had the gall to trumpet “always look after your staff” when he presided over the greatest fall in morale in my 32 years ? Independent my ass

The Home Office has published the terms of reference for the independent review of police structures which is part of the policing reform white paper. Here are five key things to know: emergencyservicestimes.com/2026/03/23/fiv…

@Brick_Cop @ukhomeoffice And none of that is new . There was a study on 2016 that pointed out only 2 officers lived on Islington borough. I had officers on my team commuting from northants, Peterborough and Norfolk daily .

And while we’re on problems in The Metropolis, here’s another. 👀 If you’re a Police Constable in the UK’s Capital, you’ll only be able to afford to buy a house in 1 of the 32 London Boroughs that we Police. Inflation has left Police salaries in the dark ages. #ThinBlueLine 🚨

*Middle age grumpy bloke rant* If you’re going to a garage to buy shopping don’t park next to a fuel pump. Fed up of waiting for wankspangles to get a Greggs pasty when I only need fuel. Those people should have been swallowed. Rant over.

“Hi BrickCop! Today, after 5 and a half years in the Met, I've handed in my resignation and am off to somewhere new. Im very proud of my time in the Met and have met some amazing coppers along the way. Alas, things are not the same here and it's time for something new. Can I have a cheeky #Lego post to say goodbye? 👋 🚔” Best of luck! Our loss, their gain. 🫡 #ThinBlueLine 🚨

One of our greatest strengths is our ability to deploy specialist units alongside Response & Neighbourhoods. 💯 Yesterday we were joined by the wonderful PD Yogi from @MetTaskforce to help us search for a suspect. 🐕 Cutting numbers will have a huge impact. 🤦🏼‍♂️ #ThinBlueLine 🚨

Sunday motivational tweet. Going to keep it short this week. If you meet a girl and think she’s the one. And you want to spend your life with her. Before you get carried away, ask if she likes horses. If the answer is yes. Just run away. You can thank me later.

Morning all. Sam has offered to look after a horse for a friend. Sort of long term if all works out ok. He’s Dutch. I can’t pronounce his Dutch name so I’ll call him ‘Dave’. You’ll be pleased to know my pension is still getting spanked!

@Mosside3554 @apoliticaleye But putting people from specialist roles back isn’t the answer , it’s seen as punishment. What is really needed , is to make staying on response worthwhile , and value it, not see it as grunt work.

@apoliticaleye Tenure is a good thing if used properly. Too many experienced cops disappear from the frontline never to be seen again in local policing. It was experienced cops I learnt so much from in my early days, and the lack of them on the frontline is why some younger in service struggle

50% increase, by stripping outer areas covered by the Met police. Cops and a notable number of ex cops on this platform seem to have identified the Commissioners intention to move officers under a system once known as tenure ie: moving officers from one policing borough to another, effectively losing established and well known sources of knowledge about those areas to somewhere else, losing that local experience and . Seems it had a demoralising effect on officers last time. Of course this time there are no officers to swap in a 1 for 1 during that process so effectivly shuffling peices on a board to give the impression of increases whilst those living on the outer areas the Met police cover will be left with fewer cops to protect them. Polcing, particularly the Met haemorrhaging officers at unsustainable levels and now it is intended to force them into Central London further damaging that morale. The @MayorofLondon policing strategy and the Commissioners operational plan are a disaster waiting to happen. Increasingly showing themselves as two men who should be nowhere near policing at any level.
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan@MayorofLondon

I joined Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley on patrol with officers in the heart of central London to announce that, thanks to record funding from City Hall, the West End will see a 50% increase in the number of police officers on the beat.
