Ik heb net een zeer moeilijk telefoongesprek achter de rug. Ik sta nog steeds te bibberen op mijn benen. Letterlijk. Mijn mama is vandaag voor de 5de keer dit jaar met spoed opgenomen in het ziekenhuis. Ze heeft de zoveelste longontsteking en ligt nu aan de beademing omdat ze nauwelijks op eigen kracht kan ademenen. Twee dagen geleden ( zaterdag ) hebben we nog samen haar verjaardag gevierd. Ze zag er goed uit. Haar vriend vertelde met dat het niet goed gaat, dat ze nog amper eet, bijna constant slaapt, elke dag zegt dat ze wil sterven en zich enkel sterk houdt als ze weet dat ik langs kom. Tijdens het gesprek van daarnet werd mij gevraagd of het nog wel zin heeft om haar leven artificieel in stand te houden met een hoop medicatie en medische behandelingen als zij zelf niet meer wil en voorts, dat haar vriend de zorgen voor haar niet meer aan kan en het beter acht dat ze opgenomen wordt in een opvangtehuis. Bij mij wil mame niet wonen. Ze wil me niet tot last zijn. Dat heb ik vaak genoeg geprobeerd. Een opvangtehuis ziet zij niet zitten. Zij wil sterven. De vraag die ik mezelf nu stel is : moet ik haar laten gaan ? Shit, ik ben beginnen janken toen ik deze zin typte... Morgenochtend ga ik haar bezoeken en dat ga ik blijven doen zolang het nog kan.
