It’s funny how aggressive marketing can mess with your head. HDFC has been sending me the same push notification EVERY single day to upgrade my LTF Diners Club Black → Diners Club Black Metal. And the thing is, when you see something daily, two things can happen - 1️⃣ You get irritated and completely tune out the brand OR 2️⃣ You start actually considering it, even when you logically don’t need it. I caught myself in the second bucket for a moment. “Should I just take the Metal upgrade? Another metal card flex?” That thought genuinely crossed my mind. Then I had to remind myself - ▶️"Bro, I already have the LTF DCB card, zero pressure to extract value, zero mental burden." ▶️The moment I switch to paid metal, I’m automatically chasing spends, milestones, and ROI. Completely unnecessary. So yeah… I’m sticking to my LTF one!✅ But it’s crazy how subtle marketing psychology works. If you’ve ever fallen for something just because you saw it repeatedly… same boat. #DCB #CreditCards #DinersClub #HDFC

@iamRadib @_PVRCinemas Absolutely! I agree. I never fall for such stuff, but yeah, there are days like these 😅 Hope other people don't fall for it.

KOTAK PVR CREDIT CARD — SCAM ALERT 🚨 Went to watch a movie at @_PVRCinemas with my mom today. There was a Kotak kiosk there, and this sales guy just kept pestering me to take their PVR credit card. I told him multiple times that I don’t need it, I already have better cards. But he just wouldn’t stop. He kept saying it’s a lifetime free (LTF) card, you get 1 free movie ticket every month without any spend, and on top of that, there’s a ₹400 voucher that you can use immediately for food and beverages. Honestly, it sounded too good to be true. And I usually don’t fall for this stuff, I’m quite particular about which cards I take. But this guy was just too persistent, and somewhere in that moment, the idea of Rs.400 free food voucher at the theatre got me thinking, okay fine, it's anyway LTF, so I'll take it. While he was filling in the details, I clearly saw ₹499 annual fee written on the screen. I pointed it out, and he immediately said, “sir it’s free for you, don’t worry about that. There is a voucher code in the backend.” That itself felt off, but I still went ahead just to see it through. He gave me the ₹400 voucher. I went inside, sat down before the movie started, and just did a quick Google search and saw multiple Reddit threads on Kotak PVR card misselling at PVR cinemas. reddit.com/r/CreditCardsI… reddit.com/r/CreditCardsI… And obviously… everything he said was wrong. The card is NOT lifetime free (LTF) !❌ It has a ₹499 + GST annual fee! The free ticket per month is NOT automatic❌ You need to spend around ₹10,000 in a billing cycle to unlock even ONE ticket! And there are more conditions for additional benefits. So basically, straight-up mis-selling! My first reaction was to go back and call him out. Instead, I thought, "You play with me, I’ll play with you". Used that ₹400 voucher, got myself popcorn (paid ~₹45 extra), enjoyed the movie, and that’s it. Now, I won't be activating this card whenever it's delivered. No activation would lead to auto-cancellation as per RBI policy, and I won't be charged the annual fee as well. Yes, there will be a CIBIL enquiry, but that’s fine. What’s funny is, they tried to trick me into taking a card, and ended up giving away ₹400 + whatever commission they paid the agent… for nothing. Also, this genuinely made me think, "How is this even working as a model?" If you’re selling cards like this, most people will realise the truth later and either cancel or not activate. So are these agents only incentivised on approvals and not on activation of the card? Because this just looks like burning money to acquire customers who don’t even stay. So just putting this out there, be careful. Don’t take these cards at face value. @KotakBankLtd, this is honestly a terrible way to sell your product. Straight up scam. Misleading and mis-selling to consumers. If you have to lie to get people to sign up, the product clearly doesn’t stand on its own. #KotakPVR #CreditCard #SCAM #CreditCards

@think_in_points @_PVRCinemas Theatres, Railway Stations, Bus Stops are not places where you should be getting a new credit card. Go home, Sit back, research and check if you really need it and then apply.

I did the Triund trek around this time last year, and it turned out to be one of my best trekking experiences. The end of March and April are honestly great times to go. The trail was full of blooming trees, and the weather was just right, not too hot, not too cold. Sharing some unedited snaps and details that might get you interested. 🧵

You can do this as a day trek, start in the morning, reach the top, and come back by evening. Or stay overnight and camp at the top if you don’t want to rush it. If it’s your first time, you can go with operators like Thrillophilia or local vendors there for basic camping setups. Otherwise, it’s straightforward enough to do on your own. If you’re planning something for April, this is a very easy trip to pick.

It’s also a very doable trek, which is what makes it a good option for a quick trip. The trail is well-defined throughout, and you can choose your starting point depending on how much you want to push yourself, roughly 5 km, 6 km, or ~9 km routes.

HSBC Travel One cashback for forex fees just got credited for my Dec & Jan spends! The timing of this offer was superb as I had 2 international trips lined up, and this offer basically offset the 3.5% forex markup. The offer is live till June 30. If you have international travel coming up, this is a straight saving on your forex spends! If you’re planning to apply for HSBC T1, you can use this link: tinyurl.com/yc2dbbxn #HSBCT1 #HSBC #CreditCards

This offer came at the perfect time because I already had two international trips planned. HSBC T1 has been my go-to card for all forex transactions since December. I even used it to buy some forex cash from Thomas Cook. Good to see this offer being extended. I’m now waiting for the forex markup fee cashback. It was originally supposed to come by 20th March, based on the offer validity ending on 20th Jan. Based on the offer extension, the cashback is expected by 30th August! Just wrapped up a 2-night stay at Taj Chandigarh this week using my Amex Taj vouchers. Went in expecting a good hotel stay, but came back genuinely impressed by how good Chandigarh is as a city. It’s not talked about enough. Given how most Indian cities today are struggling with congestion, garbage, and broken infrastructure, it’s honestly surprising that a city like Chandigarh exists the way it does. My review of Taj Chandigarh and Chandigarh as a city 👇🧵

@think_in_points Couldn’t agree more! It was like stepping into a developed country - people using bicycles, lane driving, no honking , excellent infrastructure and half the city covered in green.
