I am sorry England is a shithole. Anyone can buy eggs, steak, honey and fresh milk from a Dutch farmer in the Netherlands, you don't need to be a millionaire. In fact, can even be cheaper than the super market and cannot be compared to the junk you get from supermarket.

@TheHerefordian I believe that only applies to stocks. You can have other forms of assets such as in reals estate, businesses or bonds to preserve the value of your money if you like. About 70% of Dutch people are home owners and that count as asset too, no? As an investor I think it was unwise.

@TheHerefordian I am not a Dutch economist so I cannot speak to it from the macro pov. It's definitely awful for individual investors, but a majority do not invest in stocks.

The Netherlands is a better place to live in many ways but taxing unrealised gains on assets is fucking awful.
