Ghana is in the AU South Africa is in the AU Nigeria is in the AU Yet, South Africa asked African immigrants to return to their home countries. This is shameful, to say the least. You would never hear Germany asking Swedes, Danes, Finns, Belgians, Poles or other EU citizens to leave because they are illegal migrants or taking up their jobs. Once you are a citizen of an EU country, you have the right to free movement, meaning you can live and work anywhere within the union. What, then, is the primary function of the AU if our borders are not united? Shame on you, South Africa! Mandela would be rolling in his grave. Shame on you, AU!

@lifeinsolace @winexviv Mind you, the transcript are free when you graduate there, you only pay a little amount as processing fee. The high fee is for those who exploit the school admission and then transfer (you seems to miss the context). So he should fold his hands and encourage such nonsense?

@thinkwell367765 @winexviv How is it exploitation? Did Nigeria forbid transfer? Is Maduka University the first school from which people are transferring? You are rather defending a crime that will come home to roost

I spoke extensively with Maduka Onyishi whom is the founder of Maduka University. I asked him why they were charging students N2 million for transcript and he explained in detail the reason. Maduka University and Godfrey Okoye University are the only 2 accredited private universities in Enugu that offer medicine. Others are federal and state universities which are very difficult to get in due to very high JAMB score requirement and also admission racketeering. Their university is currently allowed to admit maximum of 50 students for medicine while federal universities have slot for 250 students. So students who scored very low in JAMB comes to join their school for a year and in 200 level requests for transcript to port to a federal university because at that time JAMB score is no more required. When they noticed the pattern, they had to introduce a high fee on transcripts to reduce that. This doesn’t apply in all courses in the university. It’s only for medicine, nursing and pharmacy. To be accredited the university is required to hire same number of lecturers and equipments a federal university has but the low slot of 50 is heavily impacting them negatively. Engaging in further research, I realized that every private university accredited to offers medicine charges same and some charges way more. This is a way these universities curtail that practice.

@lifeinsolace @winexviv Exploiting a system is criminal. This is academic/admission exploitation and it's criminal. Don't defend Nigerians please. Everybody knows what they are doing.

How are they criminals? Is it a crime to transfer credits or switch schools? What wrong have they done? They paid tuition and earned those credits with hardwork. The school has no right to withhold them. Maduka University should rather develop itself and be enviable so that students would not want to leave

There is absolutely no reason any university should charge their students for transcripts. ₦2m for a transcript? That is theft. When you join a university and graduate, your transcripts and certificate should be given free of charge on the day of graduation. This madness of Nigerian universities withholding transcripts and certificates as a way to make extra income needs to stop. This experience is only peculiar to Nigerian universities. Absolute madness and has to stop

@lifeinsolace @winexviv From what Alex has said, I sympathize with the university. Those transferring are criminals. Nigerians will always play smart. That is why it's good to hear from both sides before making judgement.

@winexviv For me, it still doesn't make sense. People should be allowed to WILLINGLY enter or leave a school unless it was stipulated at admission and signed by the students. I have switched schools in Finland and this nonsense was not in place. This is wrong.

#BREAKING A Canadian man has been sentenced to 33 years in federal prison for targeting over 100 children across the U.S. in one of FBI Houston's largest sextortion cases. For years, Ramanan Pathmanathan, 40, used multiple social media accounts to contact at least 145 girls and boys demanding them to engage in sexually explicit conduct. If they declined, he threatened to send compromising images to the children’s friends or family. JUST IN: A lady has sparked reactions online after lamenting that her landlord added an extra ₦650,000 to the rent of her one-bedroom apartment, raising it to ₦1.3 million. According to her, after refusing to accept the increase, the landlord reportedly served her a quit notice, forcing her to begin searching for another place to stay.

@Blissart7 @OkonkwoDavidC1 @NigeriaStories That's greed speaking. Because others increase their own does not mean you should do same. Do you Know that after paying the 850k that same tenant will struggle to renew it. Most of them are fraudsters. A normal person won't pay rent more than they earn.

@OkonkwoDavidC1 @NigeriaStories The major reason for these absurd increments is the rise of new landlords. If u charged 250k for ur 2 bedroom, a newly completed building across from urs might charge 850k for the same standard of house. The moment ppl pay that 850k, no one will tell u twice to increase your own.

I REJECT THE CONCOCTED RESULTS OF THE ADC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES Following reports of widespread voter disenfranchisement in most parts of the country during the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Primaries yesterday, I unequivocally reject the concocted results being announced. I had initially stated that I will only accept the outcome of the Primaries if the process was free, fair, and transparent, and I stand by my word. I will not accept results from a process that does not reflect the values that the ADC had pledged to uphold, to rescue Nigerians from the impunity and gross mismanagement that our country is currently facing in the hands of the ruling party. There’s no way that about eighty percent of members of the party were not allowed to vote, and you expect me to accept such results. Then what makes us different from the others? The whole idea of the ADC was to give the Nigerian people a platform, to amplify the voices of the downtrodden, and make Nigeria a better place for everyone irrespective of backgrounds, ethnicity, or religion. A party that criticizes the ruling APC and INEC for vote buying, rigging and writing of results, cannot be engaged in vote buying, writing of results, and other electoral malpractices that leads to the disenfranchisement of voters who are party members. This is not acceptable! - Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi

@_ghanaprince @elonmusk @magattew They have invested billions in the past but your leaders stole the money. They should keep the money. We are happy like this. The aid is more of a curse than blessing. Africans are talented.

I agree Africa doesn’t need patronizing pity. But billionaires shouldn’t romanticize hardship by comparing “village happiness” to Beverly Hills comfort. People deserve both dignity and opportunity. Invest $1 billion of your wealth into African science, research, infrastructure, and talent development instead of talking about poverty like it’s spiritually superior.

The aid industry raises money by showing the world images of African children with flies in their eyes and swollen bellies.  That money is supposed to help us. But those images do something else too. They plant a belief.  One of my employees, Yahara, told me she grew up thinking Africans were inferior because every magazine showed people like her looking pathetic while the world "saved" them. Aid didn't just fail to fix poverty. It taught an entire generation of Africans to feel small.
