The only way is to keep educating people even if they are unwilling to learn. TN should get back to the fight for critical thinking .

I also received messages from my school and college friends, I have never discussed politics with them, nor am I in touch with most of them. The groups are like cults, you can't imagine the scale. They defend without any ideology, blindly following in the name of change. Society is already corrupt, but I will not stop sharing my opinions. We are witnessing an intolerance from our closed circle, the Tamil Nadu version of the Sangh Parivar.

Just one WhatsApp status yesterday indirectly criticised TVK for taking support from the DMK alliance. I was flooded with messages and had a sleepless night replying to a couple of them. For the rest, I managed to convince them that it wasn’t about Vijay and that I don’t know anything about politics at all. Meanwhile, my wife is scared to go to the office on Monday. People in their teens, 20s, and 30s are apparently being singled out in schools, colleges, and workplaces for not supporting Vijay. I’ve never experienced anything remotely close to this in Tamil Nadu.

What DMK can do to win next re-election is something that they need to do. But the underlying malaise that people still can’t analyse details in the age of free LLMs at their finger tip is concerning. Any foreign power can manipulate our people at will and with ease. I really hope well read people like you can initiate a discussion with children and adults for critical thinking !

@thecommonman__ Every person who supports DMK for their governance and policies should at least talk and rationalise it to 3 to 4 other people in their circle. It will not be easy but has to be done. If kids can compel parents to vote why can’t friends, family and parents do the same ?

Reports suggest the new government may restrict the 200-unit free electricity benefit only to households consuming up to 500 units, while consumers above 500 units could lose even the existing 100-unit concession. If this rule is true, families like mine in Chennai will lose even the existing 100-unit free electricity benefit because our usage crosses 1000 units during summer. This is not a new benefit for everyone. For many middle-class families, it is actually a loss. Need more clarification on this.

DMK became the Pannaiyar party that they actually came to abolish. The lost connection to the ground. Every policy felt top down blessing (which is effectively is true and actually very good) , it did not feel like they were one of the masses. They lost because their ministers lost the grounded charm and were looked at zamindar’s of those regions that they were incharge in.

Funnily ADMK looks like the best possible party to do obc consolidation which is kind of already in place. DMK did the right thing to reach out to Thor non-core voters like Brahmins, women voters, younger voters, the problem was with messaging not the intent. The party that turns around the messaging and connect is the party that will win again. TVK has built this influencer machine for the past 10 years and it is going to be hard to dethrone. For DMK they should assume they are going to go alone in 2031 and build a strong foundation across strata

1. More engagement and discussion with young people starting today in the language they understand 2. Wider political representation within DMk instead of outsourcing certain caste seats to other parties 3. Re-branding to align to aspirations of younger people. 4. Social discussions among school children make them move beyond attraction towards a more nuanced political discourse.. 5. Retiring old leaders from higher ranks and filling them with young and articulate leaders

A lot of DMK IDs talk and act like they have not seen BJP operate for the past decade. Vijay is going to just talk to his vote bank and keep winning. He doesn’t have to talk, can fail to govern, can push TN to literal darkness.. people are not going to worry. He is going to keep churning pookie memes and I am the cross bearer Azhugaachi video and the women will vote for him again. They may never forgive their husband for a mistake he did 20 years ago but will back Vijay to the core even if his policies run their lives to the ground. The earlier DMK cadre understands this, the better it would be for them else its perpetual opposition seats only for them. Considering now he has the government machinery and data of the people in his hands too
