A statement from Phil Parsons, Chief Executive, Southampton Football Club.

🚨 Exclusive: Hull City are consulting lawyers to see if they have a case to be promoted straight to the Premier League after Southampton (subject to an appeal) were expelled from the Championship playoffs. Hull are unhappy at the prospect of facing Middlesbrough at Wembley having spent over a week preparing to play Southampton. Saints appeal is this evening and they will argue the punishment is too harsh. Hull's players had a pre-planned day off today and will return tomorrow with either two days to prepare for Boro, or potentially learn the final is against Southampton again. Hull are leaving legal avenues open, including the prospect of a challenge after the final.🐯 🤝 @alex_crook

When the efl made the rule change after bielsa was caught spying, wouldnt it have been sensible to put alongside that what the punishment would be if the crime was committed. That would’ve saved them a lot of trouble. I think it’s important that the punishment fits the crime btw

The EFL haven’t just punished us; they’ve ruined us. In addition to losing half our team, we’ll be sued for many, many millions by players, sponsors & rival teams. We’re essentially facing years of decline and pain on and off the pitch. Thats why this is disproportionate.

🚨 BREAKING: Labour MP Josh Simons will resign to trigger a by-election in Makerfield to give Andy Burnham a route back to Parliament

Two years ago, we lost Bernard Hill, a man who gave us one of the greatest kings ever put to screen. From the tragedy of Titanic to the courage of King Théoden in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, his legacy is etched into cinema history. “Ride now… ride for ruin, and the world’s ending!” Gone, but never forgotten.

Probably because that’s not an easy or agreed upon point? England being what? Mercia? Albion? Anglia? Northumberland? Some of those? None? It’s not because of wokeness, you utter twits

Kemi Badenoch sneered at our party for caring about communities and working hard to get things done. Well that's who we are. Vote Liberal Democrat on 7th May.

The Vatican once declared a 150lb rodent to be a fish Venezuelan clergy wrote to Rome in 1784 They were surrounded by capybaras and facing 40 days of Lent Their description: semi-aquatic, webbed feet, tastes like fish Rome had never seen one, but approved it Capybara is still a traditional Good Friday delicacy in Venezuela today The dispensation was never rescinded

The English have always had this quiet oikophilia - that deep love of home - which is rooted in its counties. Living in France you see the French flag (often paired with the EU flag) on every mairie (mayoral town hall) and it reinforces a collective identity of Frenchness. Bringing back the old county flags on public buildings would be a simple, graceful way of doing something similar. It's also a gentle reminder that England is made of real, named landscapes and settled ways of life that have shaped it for centuries. A few flags on the town hall might do more for our sense of belonging than a dozen policy papers ever could.
