Not sure where this comes from, but this is the first I’ve heard of this. And frankly, would be surprised if this were true. #Jets are in the business of stacking 27 picks—trade for 2 would certainly require next years 1.

SOURCE: In the weeks leading up to the NFL Draft, the Jets fielded called from 3 teams who had serious interest in trading up to #2 overall. All 3 teams let it be known they were coveting Texas Tech EDGE David Bailey. No offers were good enough to get the Jets to move off of the pick.

We give Darren Mougey credit when it’s due. Savvy trader, good with cap-space, and good with early round picks. His clear weakness is drafting on day 3. In the past two draft classes, here are Mougey’s Day 3 picks:

#Jets standout G Alijah Vera-Tucker did, in fact suffer a torn triceps that will knock him out indefinitely, land him on IR, and almost certainly end his season, sources say. AVT, injured during a 1-on-1 drill, was playing his best football & was poised to help the young OLs.
