There was a plane. If they wanted to find it they would have. We had more than enough technology back then. My father was an embedded flight software engineer for JPL for over 13 years on multiple surface imaging radar projects including SRTM. (STS-99). I know a little bit about satellite imaging and that there is no freaking way they flat out can't find something that big that was flying. Our government (or whoever) is hiding technology they don't want you to know about including the system that recorded the incident.
