During the civil rights movement activists tapped into the very real feelings of guilt over the unequal treatment of the law towards black people. Activists leveraged this guilt to eliminate the discriminatory laws however they went further and enshrined their own special treatment under the law.
Now back then one could be forgiven for thinking these measures were necessary for overcorrecting the very real wrongs they suffered. Today that logic doesn’t make sense anymore. Those conditions are long past, and favorable treatment to one race over everyone else has become an intolerable farce.
