The “evidence pack first” part is the most important piece here. AI writing by itself is becoming commoditized. The real GEO advantage comes from the workflow before and after writing: research → evidence → brief → content → audit → rewrite → measurement. Without that loop, content automation produces volume, but not necessarily citation-ready assets.

Great question. Our view is that source authority tends to be the stronger underlying factor. Higher-authority domains are generally more likely to be surfaced and referenced by models, which means that if a brand has strong, high-quality coverage across authoritative sites, mention volume usually follows naturally. From a brand strategy perspective, this means it’s often more effective to focus on establishing presence across high-authority platforms and publications first, rather than spreading resources too thin across lower-authority channel 😆

What you’re describing is positioning at scale and I think it's an amazing idea. If a brand isn’t clearly tied to a category across multiple surfaces, the model just… doesn’t pick you. Consistency of identity is also important for brands. I'd like to know what your thoughts are regarding volume of mentions versus authority of sources.

I’ve been looking at a batch of GEO citation/source data recently, and one thing is becoming pretty clear: GEO is not just about publishing a few press releases or building a few backlinks. It is more about helping your brand enter the model’s “high-frequency recall set.” From what I’m seeing, the priority looks roughly like this: First: LinkedIn / Reddit / YouTube. These platforms carry a lot of overall weight, but the average citation rate of each individual post may not be high. They are long-term compounding channels. You may not see immediate results from one post, but consistent activity builds mentions, discussion, and real user context over time. Second: your own website. This is the part I think many teams underestimate. A lot of GEO competitors’ own websites are concentrated in the Top 10 to Top 50 source rankings. That suggests the website is not just a traffic destination. It is one of the core source assets that models use to understand a brand. In the long run, your website becomes your category knowledge center. The earlier you clearly define who you are, what category you belong to, what problems you solve, and how the outside world validates you, the easier it becomes for models to recall you first. Third: top industry media. A few top publications can have very strong citation rates, but the value is highly concentrated. Their biggest role is not always direct conversion. It is category credibility, brand trust, and industry recognition. So my current takeaway is: GEO is not a single-channel play. It is the combination of: Platform discussion to make the brand show up in real conversations. Website authority to help models understand the brand clearly and consistently. Industry media validation to reinforce that understanding through trusted external sources. The earlier you start building these assets, the more compounding advantage you create. The later you start, the harder it becomes to break into the model’s default understanding of a category.
