A software company that I used to advise in exchange for options just got acquired. I'm fully vested (but not yet exercised). I'm thinking about sharing a detailed breakdown of the math once all the dust settles. Including: what did I actually earn after taxes. You always hear the question: Is it worth it to advise startups in exchange for "equity" ? Well, let's find out. Who wants to see the full math on this?

Why do some companies have different fiscal years?! Why have it be Feb to Jan or May to April? Is there tax benefits or is it just something people make up? I’ve always wondered, and seems like no one has an answer

@timdavidson41 Coming from a sales guy. A company that is Feb-Jan is much better than Jan-Dec. Chasing a deal at EOY in December is rough for both sides.

@timdavidson41 Yup. And then you’re in the race to the bottom. The margin for error is so small so teams don’t want to experiment … but if you don’t experiment than you’ll likely burnout and fail anyways. Playing it risky is becoming the safer option (which feels counterintuitive)

What sucks is that most teams are so busy they can’t risk proposing a new idea bc they’ll have to do it Which they don’t have time to do Bc they’re already spread so thin

Why don’t a lot of hotels have a directory of their facilities on their website? Floors and hours of the gym, pool, any other amenities. I always have to call the front desk or just look around. it’s fudging 2023
