@greenstflyer I’m of the opinion, more so than ever nowadays, that anything is possible, despite the odds against it.

This is @airindia’s first retrofitted Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, VT-ANT—and it’s gearing up to carry paying passengers very soon. Before the aircraft ferried back to Delhi, I got access to see the completed new interiors, a pretty big milestone in the carrier’s US$400 million widebody cabin overhaul. The redesigned cabin — created by JPA Design in collaboration with TrendWorks — introduces a sleek three-class layout: 20 Business Class suites in a 1-2-1 configuration, 25 Premium Economy seats in 2-3-2, and 205 Economy seats in 3-3-3. Business suites come with doors, a fully flat 79-inch bed, and 17-inch 4K screens, while Economy gets 11.6-inch displays. On the outside, VT-ANT also got a full glow-up. It took a 20-person team 18 days at Aerotek’s San Bernardino facility to strip and repaint the jet into its striking new livery as the airline leans into its post-privatisation identity after 2022. Was it a long journey to get here? Yes. Was it worth the wait? Most definitely. This is just the beginning—25 more aircraft are set to go through the same retrofit program. 🧵

The improvements extend beyond the new deliveries too: Air Canada Airbus A320 and A321 jets from Rouge will join the mainline fleet with refreshed interiors, while Boeing 737 MAX planes shift to Rouge in 2026. Passengers on leisure routes across North America and the Caribbean can expect seatback entertainment, reclining seats, and inflight WiFi. Regional flights operated by Jazz Aviation are also getting upgraded cabins and next-generation connectivity.

On its upcoming Air Canada A321XLR deliveries: 14 lie-flat Signature Class seats debut on a narrowbody jet featuring 4K OLED screens (13” in Economy, 19” in Premium) with Bluetooth audio. A backlit maple leaf canopy adds a distinctly Canadian welcome onboard. [📸 Air Canada]

Air Canada is making a major push into premium travel, unveiling its most significant cabin overhaul yet at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg. It has just released images of its upcoming interiors on Boeing 787-10 and Airbus A321XLR deliveries. The 787-10 will carry 332 passengers, including 42 business class seats (featuring 4 new “Signature Plus” suites), 28 premium economy, and 262 economy seats. At the very front, the Signature Plus suites introduce 2-meter (6’5”) beds, sliding privacy doors, quartzite tables, and even companion seating for social travel. Air Canada becomes the latest carrier to introduce a "business class plus" type seat. Across the aircraft, passengers get upgraded tech: 4K OLED screens ranging from 13 inches in economy to up to 27 inches in premium cabins, plus Bluetooth audio and in-seat power at every seat. The design leans heavily into a “distinctly Canadian” aesthetic, with red stitching, wood grain finishes, and bronze accents—while a wave-inspired entrance sets the tone onboard. Air Canada says the 787-10 will debut its next-generation premium experience as it competes more aggressively in the global long-haul market. 🧵 It has just released images of its upcoming interiors for

Delta is rolling out a brand-new seat design in Delta Comfort and Main cabins, adding an extra inch of legroom (a big win for fliers in the back) and a handy seatback shelf to keep personal items within reach. Fliers will find built-in memory foam cushioning at every seat, too. [📸 Delta Air Lines]

Built with Thompson Aero Seating, the seats stretch over 6.5 feet with a new pillow-top cushion, smart storage, and a massive 24-inch 4K screen. The ferry flight from SBD to DEL took 18.5(!!!) hours. 😱🤯 The flight crew handled the mission with excitement and professionalism. Many airline pilots love ferry flights, they’re such unique assignments and tend to staff with very senior crew. I wished them well as they set off on the journey, a proud moment for them bringing home this aircraft. flightradar24.com/AIC3102/3f310c…

The first refurbished jet should enter service in the coming weeks. Now the real test begins: how it actually feels in the air. If you get a chance to fly this bird, you’ll have to let me know about the experience.

It’s roomy in the back too, with new crimson red seats in economy class. There are new, sharp IFE screens, Type A and C chargers, and decent legroom throughout. The new configuration sees a new cabin on Air India’s 787-8 fleet: premium economy, with wider seats, greater recline, a leg-rest extension, and more elbow space.

American, Alaska & Hawaiian Airlines become the latest U.S. carriers to increase checked bag fees. AA is also stripping away some benefits from Basic Economy fares, including the ability for elites to upgrade. This means all the U.S. majors have hiked fees in the last week and a half. Alaska Air Group doesn’t mince words, saying increases are “due to ongoing volatility in fuel prices and an uncertain global environment.”
