My Dad (Mr Bennett) sadly passed away 2 weeks ago today. I still don’t quite have the words. He was my hero. I will miss him more than he will ever know. I love you Dad. Xxx

@lukemcgee I played in the band for the Opening Ceremony in Liverpool on Sunday, and there were very visible police snipers on the tops of the high buildings. Maybe that’s always the case when 30,000 people gather together in a big city, but it all felt very incongruous to me.

@oliviasolon Just discovered the iOS password manager has a built in 2FA feature. It’s easy to set up and even easier to use. Turned off the Twitter one and am now using this instead.

Twitter will automatically remove SMS based two factor authentication on free accounts in a month. This is framed as a security-based decision but it’s unlikely that all users will switch to an authenticator app or other forms of 2FA

@benryanwriter @JoyceCarolOates I watched the Birds again recently and thought exactly the same - the bird effects have actually stood up pretty well over 60 yrs, but that particular backdrop is the worst moment in an otherwise great film.

@JoyceCarolOates I love Hitchcock, but in The Birds when they cut from a real-life exterior wide shot to a set in the scene during the birthday party when Mitch and Melanie are walking on that hill always strikes me as patently ridiculous.

those ridiculous "backgrounds" in scenes involving cars highlight the artificiality of Hitchcock in general & this frankly silly concoction in particular. he certainly is an overrated director--really a cynical puppet-master manipulating gullible audiences.
